The temples were built on top of an inactive volcanic crater, so the word 'vnam rung' found on an inscription could be referring to 'volcanic crater.' I don't think the word 'rung' from the inscription was a Thai word meaning 'rainbow.' The ancient Khmer influence was predominant at that time, the word 'rung' should be an old Khmer word, not Thai.

Some Khmers are so filled with bad attitude towards Thais. Thai archaeologists tried their best to restore this prasat to match it's past glory. Thais with high levels of awareness recognize the ancient Khmer architectural expertise. The Thais with minimal awareness claim that these Prasats were built by their Thai ancestors. These low awareness Thais are the same as those Khmers who are filled with bad attitude.
