Phd is a waste of time... do B. Ed after M. Sc and get into govt teaching job or even private. No scope in Phd. 15-20k pm salary offered by institutes.

I am suggesting few books. Real analysis: T. Tao, Bartle-Sherbet, S. Kumaresan, W. Rudin (principles of mathematical analysis) Linear algebra: S. Kumaresan, Hoffman-Kunze Abstract algebra: Artin, Herstein There is an algebra book by Dummit- Foote, which is like the encyclopedia of algebra. That is a very big book!

@@jayasharma5789 not really. Probably in the website they mentions some minimum cut off percentage is (not very high) required. Please visit the website for details.

I was preparing for the PhD entrances while pursuing my M.Sc. from University of Calcutta. My main target was to have good understanding on the basic topics as much as possible, if there were some backlogs, trying to fill them up! And I used to solve the question papers for the various PhD entrance exams in India (e.g. TIFR, NBHM, ISI, CMI).

@@Alif0808 no, not necessary for admission. Projects are good for your own knowledge and exposure. But please make sure before that you have a good understanding on the basics!

Hay, excuse me.. University of Calcutta simple sa kyi institutions nahi hai. Thora research karke baat kya karo.. National ranking. International Ranking CU ka dekho. Top 3 University hain in India. Kyi iit se better..

True. The University of Calcutta is perhaps the most underatted university in India.... Even being a state university it manages to be under top 500 QS World Rankings in basic science departments and among top 5 universities in India by NIRF, ARWU Shanghai Rankings, CWUR, QS Asia etc... It is also the only university till date to produce all the Noble Laureates India has or had (1 in Physics, 1 in Medicine, 1 in Literature, 2 in Economics).... Sir CV Raman (first director of IISc Bangalore) and Sir JC Ghosh (first director of IIT Kgp) started their career from Calcutta University! The present ICTP Dirac Medal winner from India & faculty of Harish Chandra Research Institute (Dr Ashoke Sen) also hails from CU. Not only that the Director of ISI Kolkata, IACS, Bose Institute, Jadavpur University, IIEST etc all hails from CU... According to an Oxford report, CU pproduces highest no. of students cracking CSIR NET every year and the academic curriculum far rigorous than any other institute/university in India... One of my seniors in CU (Arka Ray, MTech CSA IISc, GATE 2019 AIR 9) told that after sloging 4years in CU, the course work in IISc seemed like cakewalk...

@Nitin Semwal it depends on your category btw for general category 60 % is sufficient but to get admission in IISC you need to qualify net, gate, jest with good rank

Who cares? Atleast we Bengali can speak Hindi... How many non-Bengali speakers can speak Bengali or any non-native regional language apart from Hindi? Hindi is NEITHER our mothertongue NOR our country's official language.... Our constitution gives us right to speak in either the native language of STATE or English... Nowhere it is mentioned that we have to speak in Hindi...
