That perspective is so hard. How did you learn to do that? Did you use a reference maybe?

Helloo! I started with the layout of the chair, and then I created the first and last key poses based on the perspective of the chair. I used a 3d model to get the right perspective of him standing. From there, I basically drew arcs from the sitting to the standing poses and essentially filled in the other drawings with reeeeally rough drawings until I got the poses correct. After that, I just kept refining and tweaking them until I got it right. Perspectives like that are a big challenge for sure, but I highly recommend picking odd angles because you really do learn a LOT along the way. Foreshortening can be a pain, but it truly opens you up to so many cool things. 😁

Great question! Those are the drawing numbers, BUT they aren't necessarily the frame number. For instance, I am working in exposures of 2 (frames per drawing), so each single drawing will be on screen for a minimum of two frames. In this clip, we are only seeing the key drawings and breakdowns (indicated by the triangle), so they are actually holding for even more frames per drawing. I posed a 3D model for the sitting position reference (only the first drawing) in order to get the exact angle I wanted, but all of the other poses were pulled from my imagination and physically figuring out what all moves and how by constantly feeling it out. It was pretty challenging to keep the volume and proportions right, but I'm happy with it so far.😃
