Compared to other plastic model/weathering channels, Tom is a level up. You blink and you miss a few hours' worth of work. Such precision, detail and eye for real-life colours. And the result is not shiny... Amazing. Thanks Tom!

Fantastic!

This caught my attention as a fan of pioneer aircraft. The Pfalz E I was a Morane-Saulnier Type H manufactured under license. It would be a fairly simple conversion to make this kit into a Morane-Saulnier Type H. That aircraft type made many important early flights. The Fokker E I was based on this aircraft, but the fuselage was modified and conversion is more difficult.

For me the main fun lies in the process of building and painting - the final model is some sort of "nice to have" ;-) Not to forget the educational aspect for me personally. Throughout these detailed cockpit structures I've learned a lot about old aircrafts. But you're right. I wish these details could be seen after assembling too...

Awesome animation!!!! Keep making these. I just stumbled on to these.

A beautiful model, masterfully done. Now why make the at the end completely invisible internal rigging details is probably a question of someone who does not share the builder's joy of making such intricacies. I feel my hand and finger muscles cramped only by looking at these tiny things.

In my humble opinion, this is your best video so far. a true masterpiece 👍 would you be able to to show in more detail next time the process of how you achieved that beautiful wood colour effect? which paints did you used?

I'm glad you like it ;-) It might be a good idea to do an extra feature about wood effects. Ok, I'll have it in mind for one of my next vids... As a basecolour I use milspecs light brown colour and than work with some darker brown acrylics tones to get the wooden structure...

+Michael Havenga thanks for your kind words 😊 I use the alu foil to get the shape from different parts where I want to put wood decals on. This method makes it easy to cut the right shape out of a big decal with wood structure from "Uschi van der Rosten". I use alu foil for canopy covering in a similar way. Absolutely magnificent. Tom Do you use a professional stop motion setup or do you just setup a shot and shoot? And how much time do you spend say for a 30sec clip?

Thanks for your kind words. I use a remote control software for my camera and assemble the pictures in After Effects together. With some kind of pre composed clips I finish my little clips with Adobe Premiere. The time I spend for assembling and composing depends on the model complexity. The Pfalz-clip took me appr. 2 month...

simply perfect !!! as always. one question though if i may please, how do you make these beautiful videos of yours ? do you use some kind of special software or something ? it seems like the plane is being built by itself. how do you do that ?

thanks for your kind words and request: I work with after effects (adobe) to edit the several pictures I've been taken by my digital camera before. It's some kind of an old cinema technique were you take a picture; move your part; take a picture again and so forth and forth. When you put these pictures together in a composing program like after effects you get several clips and footage you be able to combine them to some sort of clip. It's similar to the clips we used to do with a flipbook were you paint some line figures on the edge and let it flip though your thumb to create a little movinge picture... ;-)

As a matter of fact, I've figured you must be doing something like that, but I was amazed how the parts don’t move from their places, and yet they are being painted and keep on building. It seems like they are actually stuck on the surface in front of the camera while being built in the meantime.... very very cool indeed !!! :-) I always like to watch your videos, they are short and yet you can still see the whole building process. Keep it up !!!

foxguyfox I'm glad you like my combination of showing the building process and letting the pieces act on their own... Currently I am working on a different kind of story. But it'll last some time to get finished... To answer your question: I use some kind of marker to position the parts in the right place even after asemmbling and painting them. So I achieve some kind of continuity during the entire process. When there are some gaps on the pictures I fix it in the composing program....

Why do you always add so much detail and care on parts that will be hidden by the fuselage?

Deses for me the assembling itself is the fun part and I like to see how f.e. the fuselage was constructed...

you can make better silver -copper or steel like parts by buying from artist store patina wax based paint .you can rubb it on .its the best. i hope it helps.happy modelling

How do you feel about special hobby kits in general? I have not heard very many good things about them, but I haven't built one...

Different steering components on the bottom of the fuselage, different shape of the rudder and motorization...

I might be OCD...I cant handle watching all that micro- cable work, fine small detail...then covering it up...arghhh. We need little fairy pilots 1 inch tall to really appreciate this.
