Hi Davita! Your best bet is to look on eBay. Many people sell machine parts on there. Good luck!

Hello, I am contemplating purchasing one of these machines as I make leather handbags. My particular interest is because of the free arm element. What is your take on this? Would I be looking at something more heavy duty? I also like the idea of the IDF? Feature. Many thanks.

Hi Bambi! Although these machines *WILL* sew through leather it would strain the motor for them to sew through leather on a consistent basis. If you are going through thick seams these machines really shouldn't be doing that either - not even occasionally. You can find yourself a cheap industrial machine on Craigslist if you're patient! I got an awesome Singer 31-15 for $100 and just had to change out the clutch motor for a servo and it is a beauty to work on! Sews through leather like butter and without straining the motor. The IDF is good but mostly for quilting - not for leather. If you want something like the IDF for leather you'll want a triple compound feed where the sewing foot AND the needle move together.. that will give you nice-uniform stitches over bulky areas.
