    From what i've heard it is actually true that criminals (at least are intended to) pay taxes on their illegal income. I don't remember the details but there's some "other" category for income which is essentially just "please, we're not here to get you just pay your damn taxes so we can pay people to upkeep roads and whatever you do to get it is between you, god, and the local cops" Which is why it's specifically Al Capone who was chased down over tax evasion and not every single suspected criminal.

  • @orangesilver8

    @orangesilver8

    Жыл бұрын

    It depends on how the crime gets them their income. Typically if you're like, selling drugs then you're not reporting that to the IRS because you're getting it from crime. The most I could find about whether they'd look at it was "The IRS can’t share the information unless law enforcement has a case and gets a court order, so it is less risky than it sounds." But still that's pretty easy to get a court order for something like that. If you don't report that income and you start spending a lot more than your income the IRS might get suspicious that you're hiding your income from them, so some people would launder money by reporting it as income from a legal business like a car wash that they bought and you just make a lot of fake reports of car washes to add the illegal income into the car wash so it is then legal income. So, some people can pay taxes on illegal income.

    Regarding children and employment, kids can have jobs with the age limit being different between states. IIRC the limit for my state growing up was 13 years old for like 2 hours a day, no more than 8 hours a week, with set start and end times for said jobs and LOTS of restrictions on the kinds of jobs they could do. So I'd say if a child is obviously employed, like the gym trainers, then it's fair to assume it's an after school job and we just are seeing the world in a state of "time never actually passes" so we don't get to know the rules for child employment.

    lets go also explicitly takes place like 10-15 years after red and blue... somehow. this is evidenced by Blue being an adult and referencing taking his own journey as a kid. that said, it makes little sense that the same things that happened to Red and Blue happen to Chase, Elaine (the 'canon' names of the possible protags) and Trace up to and including wandering into a gang hideout because they have special glasses that let you see ghosts and then that same gang taking over the largest city in the region and the protags taking their operation down while the cops sit around doing nothing. it also makes no sense that koga is a gym leader again and not his daughter. i suppose you could explain all this with multiverse shenanigans. i hate how often this is the answer to everything in the pokemon universe

    @@kylieschuttloffel1261 blue still looks like a kid in let’s go so at most there’s a 7 year gap for him to be “not a kid” given he himself was 11 in Pokémon red/blue. But brock might not even have been gym leader in blues journey since it’s clear he and red never stopped team rocket. Actually, geovani isn’t any older (given he was in his fourties’ in r/b and definitely isn’t in his 60s in lgep” which means it’s likely only Blue is different in age from everyone else.
