    Good grief you are harming it by bending and scratching it! Many things are marked on the bottom.

    Thanks for the helpful info. Keep in mind that some grades of stainless steel are magnetic, and some grades are not.

    @@chicowize yep. But i dont cast bullets yet. I melt my metal detecting finds (copper/ brass/ aluminum) into bars and rounds. Pewter was what I practiced pouring with since it melts at such a low temp instead of 2000° copper

    I am currently paying £10/Kg in the UK for clean pewter, that is pewter that doesn't have any filler, glass or anything similar in it. It has become quite a valuable commodity, for scrap!

    Mr funkia hi ,you in the buying game peweter? Have 2 1/2 pint pewter tankards with crown hallmark are they collectable? Or would you scrap them? Good codition no major dents fancy handles, nice if you replyed thanks

    @@stephencrockett3803 - well I was in pewter trading business. I was paying £10 a Kg, and getting £15, but when the price fell back to £10, I lost interest. Pewter isn't worth much as an item, because no-one wants it.

    MCK brother this is a haul I’ve acquired little by little, piece by piece. I was getting everything together so I could do a melt video in the future. So I did a video to help others identify it easily. Thanks for watching

    Yes you can but most use pewter for its tin content. It would be super expensive to strictly cast with pewter only. Thanks for stopping by and commenting

    collector who bends and gouges everything. the better stuff is thicker so harder to bend unless your a macho macho man. best use for cheap bent, gouged stuff is to create thicker art castings.@@chicowize

    Also, pewter is never riveted...so if a handle is riveted on, then it's not pewter.

    It's worth melting down for casting your own art or whatever since you'll pay 22 a pound on amazon for pewter ingots you could save some bucks.

    Pewter is worth a ton it's made mainly of tin and a small amount of lead or silver tin is rare and needed for making bullets (not needed just very nice for alloys)
