Peugeot 205 Old Start Hard Start
Car has been off the road for three months with a gearbox issue so hasn't really been run. The choke mechanism isn't moving freely so I couldn't get full choke. Nonetheless, a minute seems respectable.
It's a 1987 1.4 GR with the old "X" or Douvrin engine.

Thank you for sharing ! You remind my Mum and my wife, who had got two peugeot 205 in the 80's and 90's, these cars were a bit mine too So you remind their coldstart in wet mornings .....

It starts fine normally, just with sitting for so long it struggles a bit. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon.

Hopefully this will be back on the road by the end of the year. I also have a 205 diesel that I use as my daily transport.
Please do some more hard starts in this car!
It got there in the end. A bit of WD-40 on the choke mechanism or grease should free it off.

Glad you didn't re the nuts out of the engine when it did eventually start like some clueless idiot would have done which frankly achieves absolutely nothing whatsoever & will only result in long term engine damage! Have you sorted out the choke cable issue & is the car starting OK from cold now please? More importantly do you still have the car?
