Peterbilt 520 Amrep Octo in Santa Clarita
Truck 2845, one of many brand new Peterbilt 520 Amrep Octos purchased for Santa Clarita knocking out a trash route in Canyon Country. For a short period of time Burrtec will continue collecting the existing Waste Management carts as the rollout slowly makes its way across the entire city, which will bring an end to Santa Clarita’s very unique and infamous color coding which has only been made worse in recent years with new SB1383 compliant carts sprinkled in amongst the existing carts.
Amrep has had a tendency recently to be very inconsistent with the programming on their new ASLs, so some operate under the forced neutral system while others stay in gear. The in-gear-at-idle trucks allow you to rev manually if you leave the truck in gear and use the joystick as seen in the video, something I’ve concluded they failed to add to their programming because otherwise these trucks are extremely anti-rev. Luckily this one moves at a solid speed, most of these trucks move at a snail’s pace when compared to other Amreps.

Good looking truck for sure but I bet he really misses 1903
Burrtec lost Riverside, but they won Santa Clarita. Glad they got this Octo.
Apparently Amrep is still making Octos for some reason.
Awesome stuff, a new Octo is a rarity! Seems like everyone has forgot they still make those, especially LA lol. Truck sounds awesome!
That’s cursed
Shoutout to SCV, I'm from Canyon Country, currently in Houston, Texas.
he is my recycle hero❤️
despite the cart colors being very confusing, i hope someone can get some of the very unique carts there. this truck is very cool. Has some old burrtec vibes too it.
Can I get a Starbucks gift card instead of lame Luke? I subscribed
I’m guessing bbd is not there anymore??
Gotta love an amrep octo! Great post!
nice to see you uploading again
Great video! Wounder if some of the riverside trucks will be sent out here
Nice video
I actually like this truck.. I wouldn’t mind seeing a new Octo with a 520 cab in LABOS paint. Sucks they lost the contract, I still remember seeing those cart line videos.. the cart variety sure looks like a mess.
👍👍
Wonderful! I wonder if they offered to take on any of the drivers from WM as employees of Burrtec
