Peter Ustinov - rare at-home 1987 TV interview!!

Ойын-сауық

Peter Ustinov at home in Switzerland in 1987. Witty, irreverent and engaging, Peter Ustinov is never less than engaging and fascinating in this interview.. A singularly brilliant talent, Ustinov made his mark on film and theatre, literature and concert halls as well as otherfacets of the arts. One of the 20th century greats.

his autobiography Dear Me was a wonderful read, one of the best autobiographies i have ever read. Not the typical theatre personality at all. Fascinating, almost unbeleivably dramatic family background, and a greatly humane person who did a lot of work as a UNICEF ambassador for many years. Vale Peter, you gave so much joy to so many people.

I have great admiration for Sir Ustinov. Not only a prolific artist, but a man that geniously combined social concern and the welfare of those in need with an extraordinary sense of humor. Long live his legacy.

You know.... that Sir Ustinov aged very well...now Hollywood diets or face lifts. He comes across as ver approachable and civil. But most intellient people give off that sort of childlike vibe. Peter is the type who seems like a good listener and it shows! Nice interviewfor that era..thanks.

0:17. Hahaha! His bark is so convincing! I wasn't looking at the screen when I heard it and thought it was an actual dog. =D. "I expected you tomorrow at the same time" Hahaha. =D Oh my goodness he absolutely brought the Chinese' reaction to his wife to life! And the American accent! Absolutely spot on. What an incredible actor. 11:56 "The only thing we haven't yet improved is what we say to each other" 12:19 "Things were much safer when we didn't know immediately what was going on on the other side of the world." "Don't ever call me again." =D

It's perhaps fortunate that Peter Ustinov isn't around to see Russia's attack on Ukraine, but I'm sure his guidance would've been valuable.

What was that voice speaking in a foreign language saying ?...I heard the names of Arthur Miller, James Baldwin and Ronald Reagan but have no idea what was being said....and remain immensely curious. ....then it came on again for a few seconds more and then Ustinov was talking about an assassination...presumably Indira Gandhi's.

A gentleman, intelligent man, a man with huge heart. He said one time to a journalist who had prudence to asked Peter, "Are you a richman?" Peter responded. "I'm a simple man. with four houses around the world. A beautiful wife, who was recently left her fathers fortune-makes love to me at a click of the finer." We miss you, Peter.

@@owengreene382 I ask because, as a long time Ustinov fan/expert, I have NEVER known him to utter such profane and small-minded things as that. Especially the "beautiful wife who was recently left her father's fortune makes love to me at click of a finger" part. Trust me--a "gentleman, intelligent man, a man with huge heart" as you described him, doesn't describe his beloved wife in that way. So, if Peter Ustinov said that, which I doubt, he was either on drugs/drunk out of his mind, was joking, or WASN'T a "gentleman, intelligent man, a man with a huge heart." If ANY man I chose to be with said I "made love to him at the click of a finger", I'd leave him instantly. What a disrespectful way to speak of a loved one--as if she was at his beck and call, waiting for the great white lover to call her over to him so she could please him sexually. That is a HIGHLY disrespectful way to talk about ones relationship with a spouse. If you heard such a thing, I doubt it was Peter Ustinov, unless he was out of his mind. When/if you come across this supposed statement, I welcome the link eagerly, so I can UTTERLY change my opinions and understanding of a man I have followed for a long time. Have a peaceful day.
