I very much doubt that both lost their money because before handing over monies they would first have to look into the paperwork, that would be the second condition of the contract, and finding things were not as they were presented to be walked away. Having dealings in this area that is how things go.

Duncan’s banter is pure gold.

Gotta love how Debra intentionally words things in a way to not compliment them too much so they don’t feel too encouraged and ask/negotiate better terms.

Dude you can see how mad his partner was when he accepted Theo's offer because he was trying to negotiate them down to a lower equity.

The duration of the pitch is actually around an hour each or a little less.. They don't show everything in the final cuts.

After successfully receiving investment in 2007 the company was put in administration in 2009 despite the Dragons putting in a further £27,500 at short notice.

That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works! I thought the same thing - "because we are using non-fossil sources for our fuel, burning it is magically emission free!" definitely isn't right.

@Andrew L For the way Deborah carries on about things being eco, and she’ll ask technical questions that are super hard to determine like ‘is using your x and y product and less damaging to the environment because of all the logistics and so on’ and grill them for it. And they come out with the most idiotic comment ever on a supposed eco logistics company and no one said a thing!

biofuels are a classic case of unintended consequences. There was a big push for them at the time of this recording. It diverted a big proportion of cropland used for growing wheat and other grains which then caused a huge spike in grain prices. Innumerable people on or under the poverty line starved to death as a result.

@@gygaxthecat2448 Jenny made more successful investments than over half of the people in this shows history. In her first of only 2 seasons, she had 9 successful deals go through. Deborah has only ever hit 9 successful deals once. She's done 16 seasons. Peter has had 9 and 10 successful deals (10 being his best) once each in 18 seasons. His figures are much lower than that most of the time. The only people that have beaten Jenny's record there are Tej (12), Peter (10) and Sara (10). Go look at the table on the Wikipedia page. People's perception is way off and then you get idiots like this guy posting the exact joke in the exact format that I saw on the last video that's he's just ripped off from someone else, just so he can get likes.

...and yes I do admire Jenny, as much as I can admire a banker and someone representing capital, but she was prudent and honest. She seems to have only made an offer if she meant to keep to it. Most of the others do not do that. They just back out later. Maybe not as good TV, but good ethics.

Wow.. that was quite strange.

Let's be real here, this business was doomed to fail since the start. There's no way they can compete with traditional trucking companies. Not only their profit margin is undoubtedly smaller than other companies, majority of their customers are businesses whose main focus is to make profit, not the average consumers who care about the environment. The only people who'd use their service are the tiny number eco conscious businesses, and such small amount probably couldnt even cover their operating cost. I don't even know why the dragons would think it's gonna be a success and threw 100k+ into it.

it makes me laugh that people talk about bio fuel like its something new rudolf diesel tested his engine in 1897 and ran it on peanut oil .

Peter was right here, just seems like a bog standard haulage company - and I can’t believe they got away with claiming biofuels don’t produce any emissions XD, nothing eco about the business apart from the name. Guess the dragons were just hoping to make a quick buck from the existing contracts.

Personal experience working with biodiesel...and during cold climates its a nightmare...and knowing a bit about auto history...and knowing that electric vehicles being first introduced very early on sometime just around 1915s i want to say perhaps a tad earlier or after...with decline only happening due to finding huge oil reserves....i dont see this being the game changer.. with zero barrier of entry...sry im out...

Jones always does the sensible thing....Looks at the other offers. Listens to all the claims. Balances them out and either declines or goes in for the kill. It's a simple process. The show is ostensibly set up for him.
