The funny thing is that Julie is my therapist XD i only found out today about her role in the movie, shes actually probably the nicest person i have ever met, she will make you feel comfortable and happy (:

Bradley Bruner she did. She acted for almost 40 more years, she retired from acting about 12 years ago and now works as a therapist. She legit went back to school and everything.

Julie’s tantrum number in the film is one of my all time favorite performances of anything. Just brilliant!

I read that Peter is a Doctor in Veterinary medicine. He had the opportunity to sign a three movie deal and decided to pursue something he was passionate about. With so many people clamoring to be famous, I really respect that.

After Willy Wonka, Peter tried to audition for many roles, but didn't land the parts and decided not to pursue it any further "I want people to remember me for WHO I was and not what I'd done." It was after Willy Wonka, Peter as a Teenager got a horse of his own, the horse's vet was what inspired him to peruse this...

I respect Peter Ostrum very much!.

I read in the trivia section on IMDB that Julie Dawn Cole and Denise Nickerson (Violet) both had crushes on Peter & took turns talking to him.

Peter and Julie dated until 1974. But grew apart when Julie decided to continue acting and Peter decided to be a normal teenager. Peter Eventually got married in 1987 and started a family of his own, he’s a Veterinarian. Julie acted in Mostly BBC Television until 1988. She retired at 30 to devote more time as a Wife and Mother in her hometown of Surrey,England. Soon after, she became a therapist.

I love how totally opposite Julie is of Veruca.

Julie is just plain GORGEOUS.

And really talented. We took it for granted at the time, but I realized, she's actually really talented. Now everyone sings with autotune and dances with lipsync. She didn't need any of that crap. Weird note and beat structure in that song, too.

Wow, they look great, though I would have NEVER recognized either of them.

They talk about family bonding over the movie. My grandson discovered WW when he was 3, and we watch it together every 3 or 4 months. The movie is not seamless but it still has vitality and holds up very well. Thank you, Gene and Mel!

I loved Veruca Salt. "And how pretty you look in that lovely mink coat." .... "I've got three others at home" Julie still looks beautiful and sweet!

Peter Ostrum did not color his hair for the film. His hair naturally got darker as he aged. Same thing happened to my hair. I was blonde as a child and now have reddish brown hair.

Yes. That happened to my sister too. When she was a toddler, she was like a blonde blonde. Then when she was like five her hair got to a light brown and it's been like that since then.

They could do a direct Sequel with Peter Ostrum playing Mr. Wonka. He’s still Charlie but he’s taken up the Wonka mantle. He releases another round of golden tickets because he’s looking for a successor, a protege, a protector of the Wonka legacy. I know we’re getting a Wonka prequel but for future reference this concept could work!

They dated for a few years in the mid 70s. Wrote letters to each other. But Julie loved acting, Peter didn’t. So they went their separate ways in 1974. I guess you can say that “Peter Ostrum” was Madam Julie’s first love.

same he was honestly one of the best child actors I've ever seen he could've made it big if he pursued an acting career I mean he was such a natural on set and when he played his character you can tell he's a genuine nice person in real life he makes the movie inspiring he was definitely born with that talent

Yes, I knew I wasn’t the only one to notice that! I think Peter Ostrum should play Willy Wonka in a sequel movie. He’s still Charlie but he’s taken up the Wonka mantle to preserve Wonka’s legacy. I think that would be pretty awesome.

At the end of the interview the host says, "...the way it was meant to be seen. In glorious Blu-ray." What does he mean? Blu-ray did NOT exist in 1971. It was meant to be seen in a movie theater. NOT Blu-ray.

What he is saying is that conventional means: VHS and DVD take away from the original scope of what was shown on the big screen. Now with WW on BluRay it is much clearer and sharper, matching or even surpassing what was shown in theatres.

I grew up reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and watching both films religiously and I have to admit that I love both films. Though the Gene Wilder version did not follow the book closely, they did a fantastic job taking a unique spin. The Johnny Depp version followed the story and dark tone of the book more closely (to the point the Oompa Loompa song lyrics were copied from the book), while also capturing the vivid and contrasting colors depicted in the book. Both films are amazing!

Charlie sounds like Wonka in this 🤣
