I’ve been searching everywhere for someone to demonstrate Ikebana. Finally Peter posted one himself. Yay

So much beauty in just the simple things, we just have to “see” them. I greatly appreciate this video, as I do every one of them. Thank you. 🤩👏😘
This video was long overdue, Peter! You mentioned many timed in your bonsai videos that you also make Japanese flower arranging so I am glad you finally showed us this. Now waiting for your take on Kusamono and shitakusa. :)
I have many little vases and bowls just like those and never knew how to use them. Thank you for giving me many new ideas!

Hi Peter, Have you ever made a bonsai from a lavender plant? If you haven’t I’d love to see that done by you😊🇨🇦
Thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you.
It was quite interesting that Mr Chan referred to Ikebana master.
every time, a bit different. this time, very different. Thank-you! Always lovely, as well as surprising in each of its own uniqueness
I'm so sorry that your Dawn isn't there to enjoy these little works of beauty with you.
Amazing
Thanks so much for sharing the simple beauty and simplicity of Ikebana!!! Always enjoy your videos immensely!!
Beautiful creations!
One of the best talks I have ever been to was by Diane Norman who is an Ikebana master it was superb. I like what you are doing here Peter,
Ejoyed this for being different but still part of the bonsai world. Would love to see a video on Kusamono!

It strikes me as a good use for some of the trimmings that come off pruning of my plants. I may not do true Ikebana, but I think it's given me some ideas :)
I love the way the camera tends to wander, observing and taking in all the sights. While some might not consider it hollywood stuff, I think its very natural and seems to draw the viewer through the 4th wall, so we are standing with the master as he tells the story.
Thank you very much for this video Peter. Being able to enjoy Nature's beauty in every room of a home is always nice.
That was fun. I learned something else new today! Thank you.
Thanks you for ikebana advice, it s a nice addition to bonsai !
very pleasant
Thanks Peter, different and interesting.
Thank You for these inspirating ideas .....👍🌲👍

My Camellias just started to bloom as well. Nice work Peter!
It was like u read my mind. I just started searching videos on this and there arnt many.im glad u did to expand the minds of all of us.another beautiful practice. From what i read i guess there are many techniques to this artform as well also using a kenzan in the pot to hold the plants up and forming triangles in the composition. would love to know more of this artform. Great video.
Different. 😊Nice

Apparently, at 74 years old, I've been making Ikebana flower arrangements all my life. My favorite flower displays are one beautiful flower or stem or cutting in a pretty little bowl...who knew?
Great job Peter. I love you first editon Peter original pottery. The blue jay's not allowed in the house?

Ikebana schools are tightly controlled - so many rules and regulations, what you can or cannot do. I am not that sort of person - I do what I like freely - they are just simple flower arrangements !

@@peterchan3100 bringing the general idea to a lot of people is good enough. i kknow that there are plenty of different styles and rules for the many schools. it's still much appreciated :)

What is that beautiful bonsai camellia call? Anyone?
Good morning Peter. Simple and pretty. "Something within yourself will tell you whether it works or not." Sometimes it is difficult to hear that voice in bonsai. When I get blocked before so many bonsai guidelines and not being a decision to make, I call my wife and ask her: Which one would you cut? And I cut the one that she tells me. And she is amazed. Why do you listen to me if I don't know anything about bonsai?

When you ask someone else for an opinion (especially your wife)- you are more than likely to get the right answer. Same as in life.

What do you think of putting in the wet floral foam to hold the cuttings in the pot securely? You still have the simplicity of the design with the holding power of the foam. Foam can be cut so as to be hidden in the pot. Tall pots with narrow holes though, would not need it. Just a thought.

I don’t think I worded this right. The guy of the website said that small trees can be bonsai and that straight trees should either but I’ve been watching you for a year now and I think they can be. Why do people put down the work of others?

Sadly NO because Ikebana was started by Zen priests who were men, but I respect women for what they are - the source of life !
@Poemsapennyeach

@@peterchan3100 I know that is the perceived version of the origins Peter...but research thru early art etc...shows it was women who originally made sparse arrangements on shallow plate like vases as gifts and decor. Lovely art form...in an event. It is the only way I have arranged flowers for years.

@@peterchan3100 I've been trying to remember where I saw the images. Could have been in the Chester Beatty in Dublin...or somewhere similar?? Women and flowers were around thousands of years before Buddhists. Before the name of Ikebana was invented. The delicacy of minimal or any flower arranging is to its core, feminine. Just as warfare is male. Monks used it for sure. It fitted in with sparing life.
Words like these I better not mention. My wife might think its from the Kama Surta and demands...well you know. And I am not fast enough anymore to risk "this".
