To think that Peter Frampton is NOT in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is worse than a crime. I personally called Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and voted for Peter as he is on his last "Farewell Tour" that will end next week, Saturday, October 12 in Concord Pavillion, Concord CA.. He has been rockin it for five decades plus! (since 1966) Peter Frampton is a Rock & Roll Legend.

1976, I'm 17 years old. In my bedroom (after smoking a joint outside.) Throw on the Framton Comes Alive LP. I'm playing Blackie plugged into a stack of Marshals (in reality, it was my hockey stick.) I crank it up, LOUD! Dad comes home from work... He passes by my bedroom on the way to his. He stops and beats on the door yelling... TURN IT DOWN! I pay no attention because I'm in the middle of a solo! I'll never forget my teenage years in the 1970s.

So very true. I remember my best friend giving me the "Frampton Comes Alive" album for my birthday in 8th grade. I wore that album out. I love every song and I couldn't understand why he didn't get the respect from the rock-n-roll community he deserved. I really didn't care, in my book, he was awesome and at 59 I still love listening to his music! So grateful I grew up during the 70's where the music giants rose and gave us some incredible music. Gone are those days! Thank God for mediums like KZread where these classic videos were captured (or edited to make seem real). Doesn't matter to me, they did a great job on this one and there are so many. I have created a huge 70's and 80's classics playlist! What an era it was and I am so glad I was smack dab in the middle of it all!

A lot of concerts these days, especially those with our favorites, are refined and perfected products. Concerts of ole were pragmatic, off the cuff... Let's try this... Peter Frampton trying to get crowd reaction... Lynyrd Skynyrd guitar marathon with three guys that are having a frigging BLAST! Alto Reed finding new ways to be suggestive with a saxophone... Now its... Here we are playing our song... You are welcome... That will be $500.00 please...

That guitar is called Blackie. Unique because it's a Les Paul with 3 humbucker pickups instead of the usual two. It went down in a plane crash with the rest of the bands gear on the way to South America ahead of the band. Like most crash sites they are raided almost instantly for luggage and the stripping of what ever plane parts you can get a hold of before help arrives. It was found out that somebody bought the guitar down in South America. But 30 years later it shows up and Peter confirms that it's Blackie and he has it back! What goes around comes around.

That's crazy but you know, I can see that happening to Peter. He plays like a master of Les Paul's and 3 hums.....His voice is unique and he was my older sister's crush along with so many teenagers and young women who enjoyed seeing him in those pink pants. It would be an honor to meet him, play some music/jam with him. I'm sure that would be in my dreams but it's something I would jump at if given the opportunity. He enjoys being so connected, everyone in the band has great talent and Peter would make sure you really got to see him and his bandmates sound incredible night after night. This song is, and will always be, one of the best songs played live. Maybe I'll see him at Guitar Center someday.......no, never happen, but keep on playing Peter, you are one hell of a Guitarist and singer that brought his positive energy on this night, this song, the audience who I'm sure were captivated, really digging the song, many for the first time were able to hear a good song in the studio become one of the greatist live song ever recorded.

The fucking bass line during the slow/quiet breakdown (D-F-C-D...walk back up to D and repeat) is fantastic...so simple, yet the more he plays it, the cooler it sounds. I remember having 10" woofers in my car in college (late 80s), and when that song came on, my entire car vibrated with the D-F-C-D notes, over and over again. My roommate at the time was listening to crap like Paula Abdul and that shitty, empty dance music at that time. He never understood what it was like to hear and feel rock the way it was meant to be heard. Not surprisingly, I didn't keep in touch with him after college.

Little bit of trivia for the die hard Frampton's. In 1980 while on tour in South Africa a cargo plane carrying all of Frampton's stage gear (including the custom Les Paul he is playing) crashed after take off destroying everything on board. Thirty years later a man approached him saying he had his custom Les Paul that was in the crash. Peter thought it was a scammer trying to make a buck, but when the guy showed it to him Peter became emotional and tears welled in his eyes. It was the only thing that survived the crash... just like King Arthur's sword, it was sticking out of the burn't wreckage unscathed... I kid you not!

I was 13 also, living in Annapolis Md. I remember me and my two 13 year old friends with cases of beer courtesy of an older brother, out on the Chesapeake, driving one of the ski boats our families had (we were allowed out in the Bay solo), getting drunk as hell while fishing for bluefish and listening to Frampton Comes Alive over and over. We'd stay out long enough to more or less sober up before we got home, parents never had any idea. Although the Marine Patrol knew us by first name, there was that time they caught us climbing up one of the lighthouses and diving the 50 feet down to the water, then there were all those times we used our single skis when water skiing to completely soak everyone on board some motor-sailer or other. Yeah, the '70s were a fun, fun time.
