a lot of work wrapping all those musical terms into a motorist/policeman dialogue, and impressed with peter nailing a terminology he wouldn't have been familiar with. the kind of intellect you'd expect from these two, holds up beautifully over 50 years later.

It’s clear Dud did the heavy lifting on this sketch, although Cookie was able to pronounce the musical terms easily. Cookie’s writing brilliance was so dazzling, many people didn’t notice Dud’s contribution at all, but Cookie understood he had an equal partner in this business.

This is not really a piano lesson, but a (clever) spoof on keeping to the rules. I only say this, because these 2 great comics did another sketch where Dudley Moore was the 'straight man' (the piano teacher) and Peter Cook is a rich guy who's never learnt any musical instrument but expects to be able to play with his private symphony orchestra in two weeks. In the end, Cook offers so much money that Moore just B.S.'s & humours him (cause Cook can't tell that the noise he's making isn't music).

So this is how Dudley was invited to the Policeman's Ball. Too bad he couldn't come. Peter did, though - even if it was secret.

I think you mean "Behind the Fridge", don't you? This was a sketch show in the theatre, similar to Beyond the Fringe.
