The beauty of DISCO was it represented inclusion in all forms (without the political baggage) as long as you brought the talent. Peter Brown, K.C., Dan Hartmann and many others were free to be. The Europeans from Germany and France brought their much needed version of DISCO (which included Donna Summer and Giorgio Moroder), while the mainstream Americanized version was generally a formulaic pop/R&B style where the Bee Gees were in the mix with everyone from the Tramps, Tavares, Cher, Rod Stewart, and more.

It's always nice to see young people today who recognize the highly musical value of the artists of the legendary and unforgettable 70s and 80s.
People knew how to dance and just enjoy themselves back then
Disco was already an underground scene, primarily in New York, long before the 1977 movie, “Saturday Night Fever”, took it mainstream. 🪩 The disco era probably started around 1974-75, maybe even earlier. Barry White originated the disco sound in the early 70s and people in L.A. were doing The Hustle, the first disco line dance, by 1974-75. By the time this song came out, disco had peaked and become a CRAZE. By 1979 it was fizzling out and being replaced by the Punk and New Wave scenes, which had also been in existence for years, but now experiencing mainstream popularity.
Height of the disco era. 🪩 💃🏾 🕺🏾
One of the great pop songs of all time. This song has so many great hooks and beats in it. it’s insane. If this song doesn’t get you singing and dancing…. Nothing on earth will.

Sadly, Betty Wright passed away on May 10th, 2020 in Miami, Florida from cancer. She was 66 years old... Between 1968 and 2007 the Miami, FL native had thirty three records on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart, four* made the Top 10 with her biggest hit, "Clean Up Woman", peaking at #2 {for 8 weeks} on December 19th, 1971, the first two weeks it was at #2, the #1 record for both those weeks was "Family Affair" by Sly and the Family Stone, and for it's 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th week at #2, "Let's Stay Together" by Al Green was in the top spot... She just missed having two more Top 10 records when both her "It's Hard To Stop (Doing Something When It's Good To You)" in 1973 and "Tonight Is The Night" in 1978 peaked at #11 on the Hot Hot R&B Singles chart... Three of her thirty three charted records were duets, one with Peter Brown, one with Grayson Hugh, and one with Angie Stone... May she R.I.P. * Dance With Me" {a duet with Peter Brown} was her second biggest hit, it peaked at #5 {for 3 weeks} on April 8th, 1978...

Skating to this with your girl in the 70s was incredibly euphoric...I just can't explain it, so powerful. You had to be there. "You gotta keep on making me high" says it all if u lived it. Hooks like "if your free and u like what you see...dance with me" would stick in your head days and days..Badass.
