That was so unclassy for Donahue not to introduce Marge to the crowd. It took a member of the audience to do that. Absolutely incredible.!!!

The funny thing about the big Red machine is on paper, their pitchers weren’t exceptional, but good. It was before Tom Seaver got there. The 76 team was so good because their hitters were incredible. With a guy like Carlton and Seaver on the 76 team, they would of won 120 games.

Hitting and defense. They had a good bullpen. Don't forget that the Reds acquired Vida Blue until commissioner Bowie Kuhn nixed the deal citing it wasn't "in the best interest of baseball." They probably would have won 120 games.

@@1981lashlarue You know what's funny? Vida Blue would of been fantastic for the Red Machine. I can't believe Kuhn was the fly in the ointment and killed the deal. In 79, the Yankess acquired 2 potential 20 game winner pitchers that were free agents: Tommy John & Luis Tiant. Now, was that bad for baseball. The Yankees didn't do much in 79 due to injuries and Munson's death. Sometimes the best team on paper winds up in 3rd place that year. Things have to come together. The Reds were incredible in 75 & 76. What talent!

Remarks about ty Cobb should have not been deragatory. Cobb was one of the all time great players and a uniquely gifted man in many respects. His memory should be respected. Today's fan read falsities and untruths about the past.

Charlie Hustle has always been and will be one of my all-time favorite baseball players but it was really stupid, arrogant, and disgraceful of him to bet on baseball as he did knowing what the rules and consequences are for gambling on baseball as a player or a manager and having such a cavalier, entitled, and disrespectful attitude about it. Even though he has been banned from baseball for almost 33 years now, I still appreciate that he played the game with such enthusiasm, vigor, passion, and aggression and hope that he gets a second chance at being honored and enshrined for his achievements someday.

I’m right there with you. Hate to see how the game has such double standards. Steroid cheats who used performance enhancing drugs to break historic records were not banned. The Astros organization who got caught cheating, did not get banned from baseball. Rose should have definitely been punished and removed from his managerial position. But to ban him and keep him from being officially recognized for his time as a player goes way too far.

I feel it's a real shame because by today's standards of what rules are most often broken Pete's mistake was minute and it made a great hall of fame player off limits to and from the world of baseball it looks like forever. Was the mistake he made so bad and so unforgiving to put a life sentence on Pete. It must be extremely frustrating for Pete. My heart goes out to him and I'm only one voice but I forgave him years ago.
