I just love the TV programs from my childhood ... among the comedies, there were December Bride, Bringing Up Buddy, Pete and Gladys, Angel, Love On a Rooftop...oh so many, but they weren't rebroadcast through the years the way I Love Lucy was. So a KZread channel like this is especially welcome.

Most of these old shows I know of even if they were before my time, but I never heard of this show.I was only an infant when this was made.God, Harry Morgan sure looks young! Gale Gordon must have been on every sitcom made before 1975.LOL.He was on radio, too, before tv.

I guess it was common back then. My mother gave me something called Pet milk similar to Carnation. She had told me the doctor told her to change to that milk because I had bad colic. Apparently babies were given whole milk back then in their bottles if they weren't breastfed. This was in 1954. And my mother specifically told me she did not want to breastfeed 😱😃

Though officially a spin off of December Bride this was CBS attempt to mimic the success of that most famous redhead Lucille Ball using some of the same personnel as ILL , This was during the two years between the end of Lucy-Desi specials and Balls return to CBS-TV . CBS even tried Ms. Williams on a second attempt in 1964 with Balls return in the fold .

I remember this show from when I was a kid, it was probably in syndication by then. For those unaware, Pete And Gladys was one of the first " spin-off " comedies, with September Bride being the "original " series. I alway thought this was funnier than LUCY because it relied a bit more on jokes than physical comedy. My favorite episode is on YT. Gladys forgets pretty much everything on a very hectic day.

Cara Williams was a very good comedic actress. And she was amazing as a dramatic actress in the movie the defiant ones. But I hate to say that Harry Morgan was miscast as her husband in Pete and Gladys. he’s depressing - a little Harry Morgan goes a long way so he is better suited as a supporting actor. There’s nothing for Cara Williams to work off of. Two or three years later Carol Williams was in another sitcom and that was a better one but I can’t remember its name. Too bad she didn’t get the right cast to work with. Perhaps if she had been cast more with Gail Gordon ….
