Yes i have a pet pig she blind now they let us move here two yr ago i had to leave my first how came here now for almost 3 yr now she sleep alot she love me help me deal with my depression so why is it wrong for us to love them but it not wrong to kill them i dont think it fair to them or us we have right also so i think it should allow this they have to get right to live judge them wrong human are same as them no one can say there not allow to be loved

Some people are just miserable!! Why the hell should the neighbors care if this family has a pet pig?! It's an indoor pet! They don't plan on raising livestock. Pigs are clean and intelligent- some argue more intelligent than dogs! And what pet doesn't provide emotional support?! So, the husband had him certified for a "service" he'd been providing the entire time. Ugh, these stories make me want to scream. I feel so bad for this family.

An acquaintance of mine had this problem back in the 80s, when potbelly pigs first became popular. No farm animals allowed in the city. Certain neighbors complained. He worked around the problem by telling everyone that it wasn't really a pig at all, but a rare German breed of dog, bred to resemble a pig, called a "schweinhund".

A very simple fix would be to only let it out when it's dark out, or plant a bunch of bushes in your backyard. Be very careful to not let the pig squal otherwise everyone will definitely hear it. Don't talk to your neighbors ever.

If my neighbor had a happy, well cared for pig I would be OVER THE FREAKING MOON!!!! How their yard looks affects their neighbors. Let's say one of the neighbors wants to sell their house, but the buyers are grossed out by the unkempt house next door. That starts costing them money.

Busybodies never cease to amaze me. The first couple obviously lives in a rural, wooded area & yet someone had the nerve to lodge a complaint because “they didn’t like it.” 🙄 Seriously if your life is so empty that you need make up reasons to bully others I feel sorry for you.

I think part of the problem is because those people just don't want to see pigs as pets they want to see them as food and nothing else and they don't want their food to be a pet !

It's hard to fathom that their are people out there that don't live in your house or pay your taxes and think they have anything to say about the pets you have or people who live there .....your home, your land should be yours and yours alone! Any and all of those people that complained and caused that family or any family undo stress and financial burden should be ashamed and responsible monetarily. Just disgusting!

I vote for the pig, pigs are smarter then dogs they are one of the top five smartest animals. This should not even be an issue. Let's sign a petition on who wants the pig to stay!

Shut up you morons, do you even research, have you ever met a pig that isn’t in hard farm labour? They’re lovely animals, they’re calm when they get used to you (at first they can be quite squeamish and scream a lot but they mature), they’re quite smart (this isn’t seen in farm pigs because they can’t learn inside a farm), and can even do certain things like raising dogs. I heard of this pig that was looking after two puppies like they were it’s own.

Ridiculous wasting court money against a pig? Some dogs are more noisy (I know a Yorkie never stops baring xD) just cause they aren't a type of livestock and not a common meal it's aright to keep them but not a pig?. My parents raised me in an affluent area of the UK and they choose to still live there. Their neighbours are exactly the same: Petty, snooty, busy bodies. I'd rather live elsewhere, I wouldn't move back if I got a free house there! Nasty people.

Pigs are amazing pets! I have 2. They’re loving and smart and they’re super clean. They don’t produce stinky smells. They poop at the farthest place from their beds. Those locals are dead wrong. Little pigs are super smart and lovable. They’re like dogs, only smarter.

Alexis Waller they really aren’t that bad, the ones raised in farms are raised so they can’t move much and not much space to poo and it isn’t cleaned much so it piles up, as well as them being made to eat tons.

You know what this is all about? People are just uncomfortable w/anything different that they're not familiar with.

What is wrong with these neighbors? I know the need to keep things nice for property value. I have lived next to human beings who kept their yard looking like a sty without any pigs. However, it seems like the only thing the neighbors are objecting to is the actual presence of the pig itself, which is ridiculous. It is obviously not a farm animal. The size of the pig, the way that it behaves, the fact that it is an indoor pet...these are not the hallmarks of a soon-to-be ham sandwich. To object, not in response to any adverse action (noise, smell, etc...) but only to some imaginary line in the sand is just narrow-minded foolishness.

I'm a pig owner. I had no idea the bond. He is my chubby kid. U have no idea unless u have one. Such love

Let's face it, people don't want to see a pet pig roaming their streets because it may force them to think of pigs as anything other than faceless bacon.

It’s really quite sad how humans are so heartless. I’m one of those who has sympathy for every animal (sometimes even pests). It may sound kinda weird and this isn’t related to my views but once I left a tub of water out and managed to invite mosquitoes and a few days later it was filled to the brim with mosquito larvae 😂 I let them stay because it was kind of cool to watch them swim. But pigs are the animal I feel most sorry for.

Of course pigs are pets! They’re so lovely and sweet. If it wasn’t for my local council not allowing farm animals as pets I’d certainly have my own. Tucker seems like a sweetheart.

What happened? I hope they got to keep the pig

Gotta love the critics. I have a Yorkie Terrier mix that has helped me through some very stressful and emotional times. I had to move out of state and pretty much be on my own away from my family for 3 years. I'm not good at meeting new people. But animals now when you are down and out. Don't know what I would have done without her.

He's a lovely creature. I understand and believe you. Some people are total cretins. This man would not use his child as a tool to keep a pig if it wasn't true, doing so would be disrespectful and wrong. Not only this, but the fact he has a pig is a possible sign of being an emotional person.

the emotional support is a good point and I understand that, I used to be depressed and asked my parents for a pet pig(not mentioning that depressed part to them since I usually keeo things to myself) and it really helped me when I got my pig I felt myself progressing but sadly my pig got stolen from my back yard,we don't have a fence (but he was kept in a cozy pen) so that was a major reason for that happening. my parents offered to buy me another pig but I didn't want another pig because only having my pig for couple of moths I got attached to him so much and I don't want to loose another animal....

I have pet pigs and its no different than having a dog. Its so sad to know there are people who have nothing else to do then to sit around and find fault and cause trouble for others.

I thought that too... but they grabbed my heartstrings and started plucking them when the man said he lost his 17 month old child in his arms.. man.. I think at that point.. I'd say keep the pig you poor soul... I can't imagine that at all... I love my baby girl so much and could never imagine and don't want to. Idk. My next door neighbor had a pig for years a bigger one than these and never once did he ever cause a problem for any of us neighbors. He did not smell or make a peep.

Pigs are amazing animals. They are number fifth in terms of smartness whereas dogs are somewhere between numbers 23-27. A pig has a mental range of a three year old human child and is extremely loyal and affectionate. They are also actually very clean animals and are litter trained form three days old! It's the pig farmers who keep them in dirty stalls and give them the bad names. Pathetic people and pathetic laws. There's nothing wrong in mass killing animals and trophy hunting and people get in trouble for rescuing animals or giving them shelter or having a pig that's not harming anyone.

Omg, why can't those people mind their own business? As long as the animal is being taken care of what does it matter?

Now if my neighbor gets 15 dogs I’m going to file a complaint because I don’t want a dog pound in my neighborhood. People are so ridiculous.

How is this any different than owning a 180 pound St. Bernard? It's a big, lazy, furry animal on a leash that shits in its own yard, makes low pitch noises, and goes for walks on a leash. What difference does the species make?

That's what I'm thinking. Dogs cause more problems and are more dangerous than a pig. Pigs are peaceful

with just 1 pig, it shouldn't be a problem. Clean up after them, and it doesn't smell at all. my wife wants a pig. and i don't. Cause we live in a block, and our backyard isn't big enough for a pig and 3 dogs.

I just googled it and they hot to keep their pig for one yr and then they have to re-apply for another permit, which they will probably get.. YEA!!! Those neighbors need to mind their own business!.. That sweet pig is their beloved pet!

How does allowing an animal that isn't causing problems set a precedent that would make it difficult to ban an animal that does cause problems?

It's difficult for common conservative folks to understand just how much joy any pet can bring to an animal friendly family. Those anti folks usually have an intellectual stasis and little good humor.

Funny how it is perfectly legal to torture animals and create toxic lakes of poop and it is fine in those neighbors book, but keeping one small pig in a way it deserves to be kept is a big issue. I think there is absolutely no reason for this hate, except that people are uncomfortable seeing animal they designate for killing and torturing, as loving pet. Repressed guilt can manifest itself strangely. How pig is more inconvenient that a big dog? We should stop designating live creatures as meat or source of other food or income, that what we should stop doping and eventually craziness will stop. I seriously pity those neighbors what is in their heads and hearts? So much fear and hate... Pigs are impossible not to love, they are so kind and smart, you need to be literally blinded not to see that, but years of buying tortured bacon can do it, I am sure. For disallowing pets the only concerns should be danger, size and noise.

These pig owners seem to be very clean people with plenty of land for their one pig. It isn't even a farm hog that's going to grow to 650 lbs, it's a miniature pig for frick's sake. How did I know the opposition would be a bunch of old people with nothing better to do? I remember in an old folk's independent living facility, there was a woman who loved planting flowers in her front yard. Her neighbors actually caused a stink because they were "too disorganized" in growth. Like, really?

the pig opponents wants to eat pig. when they see a pig thrive as a pet it makes them feel giulty

I did notice that the people who are opposing this family having a potbelly pig as a pet are seemingly a bunch of old retirees with nothing better to do but nag, whine and complain about anything and everything under the sun and are probably bored out of their minds with their own lives….!

I so agree with this man. My Begian Shepherd Malenoir has helped me through my depression.

God I miss the days when we fought over whether or not someone should be able to have a pig as a pet.

I have an Emotion Support Pig too. He is a kunekune just like Tucker. And truly, these animals are wonderfully intelligent and social. They adore cuddling and being with their humans. From day one, my pig has been a best friend for me.

You shouldn't be allowed to complain about something without having a stake. If you wanna complain your lifestyle or physical body should be at stake if I'm willing to fight you.

When your life is so peaceful and you want to create a disturbance by complaining to a random person about how dirty their pet is, and some people are dumb enough to classify pig as a wild animal. Have they ever seen a wild boar, javelina? Pigs are one of the smartest animals in the planet.
