O how lovely! Just precious _songs & even watching the pretties makes ME feel relaxed .He's quite the minstrel !! The first time i heard my little girl budgie singing stopped me in my tracks. She was already 6 or7 when she came to me , had lived as only bird with an elderly woman .Her cage was about a foot square & she wasn't allowed out .For the first few months she was silent.Then occasionally a shrill double chirp.i had been playing videos of budgies chattering to each other , she liked them, would call to the birds she was hearing &try to find them .And then one day-i think a canary was visiting- i heard, beneath the canary's song, the purest sweetest little rolling song...sounds like water bubbling along in a forest spring sparkling translucent clean sliding over pebbles....she's molting right now and isn't feeling well , but when i started this recording she rounded her feathers out, i can see & feel her relaxing . So, ThankYou very very much.i will play this for her especially when I'm out of house. One question, if anyone has experience, is it a good idea to bring her a companion? I can't return a bird i bring home.what if they don't like each other? If she's jealous of the younger bird ? She doesn't like hands or even being too close to me.I'd love to have a hand tame 'keet who liked me.Could a young bird like Bluestar and like me too? Okay that's more than one, so here's another :how can i improve her nutrition? She's been eating simple seed and millet sprays most of her life. I give her broccoli & greens she may take a few tiny nibbles of apple now and then otherwise won't touch fruit. Won't eat egg food, or egg. I am trying to add hemp, chia, flax, & niger to her diet of millet & canary grass seed but i don't see that she's eating them. Thanks for any help including opinions :) And, Bliss Boo, i wish i knew. Also , your name makes me want to add two budgies & name one Bliss the other Boo.

A lone budgie will almost always benefit greatly from a companion. There are videos on KZread of how to introduce birds properly, and an experienced local bird rescue (try searching Facebook or petfinder.com) will match you two to a bird needing a home. They will also be able to answer your questions about diet and taming in depth.

Arthurr Higgin Brown usually means female budgie ready to reproduce, but a blue cere means male bird

That happened to mine too! I think it means its penis fell off.

You're having 1 female and 3 Males, look at their cere(Nostril) color carefully. Males usually has blue color while females have pink to white color.

It took awhile for me to get a final answer as to whether budgies & parakeets are the same or not , because many articles online asserted they absolutely were others said only that budgies were bigger... Truth is, the parakeet originated in Australia became popular as a pet for English women in the 1800s , & were bred to be bigger, and have the budgie shaped head & all the different color morphs-for competitions . Eventually Americans discovered how delightful the smallest parrot can be and also began breeding for specific traits( can't recall which ones) So now there are English budgies, australian 'keets & american 'keets( bred & hatched in America).

Who else wonders what they're saying? lol
