I had a great run living in Vancouver from '94 to '21. Enjoyed it immensely and I wish that city only the best. Nowadays I'm happily back home in Halifax.

Yes , Robson was much more lively and vibrant back in the 90s to early 2000s. I remember there were street artists that did drawings/pencil portraits of tourists for a few bucks. Gave the street more atmosphere.

When I was 14 years old in Vancouver!!! Downtown in gas town district it was completely safe to wander around for kids. That was in the mid 1970’s. Now with league drugs it’s a hellacious place

Hey, not sure if you or anyone reading this would remember, or know of. Haha, but I've always remembered and loved this one gift shop on Robson Street. I have no idea when they shut down. Back when I was a kid, I use to love going to this shop, it was full of like holographic everything. Mirrors. Toys. Everything. Stickers. Gifts. Cards. All that stuff. Not Spencer's. Pretty sure it wasn't Spenser's. That was in Metrotown. I believe. But this one store on Robson, was a good reminisce.Sweet video.

I don't remember the name of it, but it was on Robson next to the Starbucks that's now an Aritzia. That might narrow down finding out what it was called. We used to go in there to look at all the holograms, it was a very 90s kind of place.

@@retrovancouver yes!!! My favorite store as a kid growing up in Vancouver. I love the little things. Those kinds of memories. The store. It was definitely my vibe to this day! Lol I think you may be correct too, on that, I was too little to remember, what the surrounding area look like, and what was beside it I don't remember. But you may be talking about the exact store I'm thinking about. Anytime you tell anyone about this store nobody knows. 😆✌🏼 That's cool thank you.

@@poodtang2104 the other store talking about on Robson was not Spencer's, but yes I believe there's still a Spencer's in some mall far from Vancouver, I can't remember what mall Spencer's is in now, I just know it's not near dt Central Grandville area anywhere. Lol that's a pretty cool store though. Spencer's.

Was nicer when it wasn't crowded with international students and immigrants now they're all over and way more crime came with. We also have a housing crisis and lack of jobs, dead end traffic. I remember life was simpler even in the early to late 2000s now it's hectic can't do anything about it but pray all these people go back home or move give Vancouverites their city back.

Some very weird comments on this so I should add that, statistically, crime has dropped since this time. What's changed is the population of the entire world has exponentially grown. There are way way more people in Vancouver then there was then.

Statistically yes, numbers wise WAY up. I figure it is a lack of general respect, and maybe multiculturalism did not help, we are losing our identity as a country. Food for thought.
