@@jabber1990 nah, if anything Washington would've had something more skin to an English accent. He was born in 1732, when the colonies were still firmly British, and he'd served in the British army. His family had come over less than a hundred years earlier from NE England. An accent that we'd recognize as a distinctly American southern accent wouldn't have evolved yet, even by the Civil War decades later, they wouldn't have sounded like what you hear in NC or GA or AL now . If you want to get a good idea for how Washington and American colonists at the time would've sounded, watch the show TURN about Washington's spies, or the HBO miniseries John Adams. You can hear the beginnings of Boston and NY and Southern accents, but all still heavily influenced by British and Irish accents.
I honestly feel General Washington himself, although very busy, has graciously shown me through his lovely home. I'll remember it always.
I don't know where you found this guy, but he really looks the part and that smooth-radio voice puts me in mind of actor William Bogert. Great job Mount Vernon! 👏🇺🇸👏

Thank you, General, for the tour of your lovely home. I have had the great pleasure of visiting it two times in my life. The gracious presence of you and your dear wife was keenly felt. You remain first in the hearts of your countrymen!
In our media saturated, ad ridden, car dependant, internet addicted world, it's wonderful to see that George Washington is still alive and kicking.

@@markk8588 if he did that today it'd certainly wouldn't look good. Hey but he wrote in his will for his slaves to be freed after his death so that's perhaps something. Better not condemn the whole for the thing every Virginia planter did in the 18th century.

@@markk8588 William Ellison was a prosperous black slave owner who was known to be particularly evil. There were quite a few prosperous black slave owners as well as most native American tribes that had slaves. Guess what they supported and fought for the south in the civil war. I think we need to get rid of Christianity and Islam. The Bible condones slavery and the prophet Muhammad owned and sold slaves. BTW Mark if you were a plantation owner back in those times YOU would have been a slave owner even if you were black. Oh and there was a man named Anthony Johnson he was the first legal slave owner in the colonies. A black man and a former slave at that. You know Mark Africans were selling and enslaving their own long before the Transatlantic slave trade. And when slavery ended in the US they still continued to sell their own throughout the Caribbean and South America...leaving them in cages along the shore to be picked up..oh and the majority of slaves at MT Vernon were not George Washington's nor Martha's. They were the slaves from Martha's first husband. She was in charge of his estate. Neither she nor George had a legal right to free them under 18th century law.

I really like this actor, he nails how I've always imagined Washington's demeanor and personality: polite, dignified, aristocratic, and possessed of a sly and humble sense of humor
I loved the virtual tour. Maybe, George Washington, reading letters he wrote. A tour of the grounds, etc. Great job! Thank you!
I have been to Mount Vernon 5 times over the last 50 or so years. As a fellow Virginian l am proud you were our first president and the first of seven presidents from the Old Dominion.
Just visited the house over Christmas and wanted to visit again. Thank you for allowing me another tour. Wonderful portrayal of the General!
I love visiting the mansion and at 5’2 I do not have to duck on the back stairs🦆
Fantastic video. Mount Vernon is a magical place! My husband hit his head on the stairs while we were there! Ha ha I told him he probably followed some pretty great men! Love the fan chair!
Absolutely wonderful! Shout out also to the actor portraying the butler, Frank, to bring the whole household into the story.

I enjoyed this video tremendously. I hope to visit in person someday. For those interested, I highly recommend that you head to Quincy, MA for a tour of John and Abigail's homestead, Peacefield. Another treasure. 🇺🇲
WELL DONE! Thank you Mr. President...for MUCH more than this tour!
I had the honor of growing up a mere four miles from the wonderful place. In fact, I believe our home sat on what was known as the River Farm just off the aptly named George Washington Memorial Parkway. Whenever we had visitors from out of the area, we took take them to the Mansion House farm. It has been years since I have able to visit, but I have many fond memories. I enjoyed this video and hope there will be longer one made with the General conducting the tour.
Excellent from His Excellency! I especially liked seeing "George Washington's Liberty Key: Mount Vernon's Bastille Key" starting at 5:18 Huzzah, well done!
Wonderful tour by General Washington! We have been to Mount Vernon many times and it is indeed a National Treasure. Thank you Ladies for preserving, restoring and sharing Mount Vernon and the General with us.
I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Martha Washington is my ancestor so, seeing this small portion of Mt. Vernon was a delight. My research into my genealogy, I discovered that the keys to the Bastille were in the entryway as a gift from Lafayette. So glad to see it included in your tour!

Lafayette was a murderer and an abhorrent human being who slaughtered thousands. Your cherry happy post of a slave owner and a murderer is patently offensive and immoral and a prime example of why American history in us public schools is a white wash and an absolute disgrace.
This video is so well done! It presents our leader’s house beautifully and from the perspective of President Washington himself which is superb! The actor portrays our first President with respect and gives us such a “real life” experience that we could easily believe it is George Washington himself. As a child I had the opportunity to visit Mt. Vernon and have wanted to return for some time. This video makes me yearn for that opportunity all the more! Thank you for creating this wonderful video! 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸
I loved Mount Vernon - it's Amazing place.... Loved it!
Such an excellent and fascinating portrayal of the great man himself!! I really enjoyed this. Please have the good General do more!!!
The workmanship that goes into these homes was and is amazing.
I had the pleasure of taking a tour of Mt. Vernon when I was 14 back in 1981 when my dad was stationed at Andrews AFB, Md. This video brings back some memories. I think I stumped the tour guides because I noticed the waviness of the windows in the parlor and asked the guide if the windows were original from the time of Washington himself. Nobody seemed to know so I never received an answer...
That was awesome! Thank you so much for that great show. I’ve been to the estate many times. Always such a joy.
Wonderful work George! I can’t wait to see Martha in the house with you 😉
Dear General, thank you so much for your dedicated service to our country. I know you love your home & always longed to be home. But your country called & you always said yes. Every time. You are my favorite hero! Thanks for the tour!
I LOVE IT! Thank you. I was in Alexandria back in March but didn't get the chance to visit like I wanted to. I'll be there soon 😢
Nicely done Mr. President, I always enjoy visiting Mount Vernon at least once a year.
I have had the opportunity to tour the mansion on three different occasions, and I have enjoyed it each time. The tour guides always do such a wonderful job. There is, however, nothing quite like hearing it from General Washington himself. Well done!
Very well done! Thank for keeping the Venerable Man alive.
This is awesome! Visited with my family in June and was amazed by it all. The museum, house, farm, gardens, woods, river, views. This brought me right back. Thanks!

Subscribed & I'm going to visit Mt. Vernon. This was one of the best home tours on all of KZread. It was so much fun to have President Washington give the tour.
The actor in this video portrays General Washington during my city’s annual Colonial Days festival held in early July to commemorate Independence Day. It’s awesome to see that he does so well at portraying Washington that he’s been invited to work at Mt. Vernon on a more permanent basis! Thanks for this great video. The work you guys do is immensely valuable.
Thank you for sharing this and doing it in character.
I love George Washington thanks for sharing video doing excellent job I still see him Washington long time 👍🏼🇺🇸🔔🦅
Honestly, I was prepared to click out of this once I got done laughing at some low budget actor - but this was actually a great video! Well done! Everything - the actor, videography, lighting, and content were fantastic!
Amazing place, been there 3 times and loved it every time. Last time ate at the restaurant and had 18th century fried chicken, it was fantastic
Greetings, Mr. President! I'm utterly delighted to have seen this lovely tour of your historic home. I had a wonderful opportunity to have visited your beautiful and vast estate a few years ago. It brought indelible memories to me and my family. Would love to visit once again and hope your kind presence will grace an in-depth tour of the estate with its remarkably rich history, mostly, coming from your own perspective. Much gratitude!
I really loved this tour. It is my wish to visit Mount Vernon one day. The man that portrayed President George Washington was excellent. George Washington is my favorite President.
Loved the tour by President Washington very much. We have visited his home two times and learned things each time. A treasure!!
Wonderful and charming. Having visited in person on several occasions, its a remarkable home and everyone should visit and donate to preservation. We use the same blue canton dishes in our dining room.
This was quite lovely. Thank you for the tour.
Wonderful more videos please
Awesome absolutely love this George , beautiful job sir I trust there is more coming.

Tis a very pleasing house, dear General
Captures how I see President Washington's mannerisms and general demeanor. Maybe I can visit his home someday.
Just watched this in preparation for our trip to DC and Mt Vernon. My kids and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
This was lovely to watch. I visited Mt. Vernon many years ago. I enjoyed touring the House and the gardens. The docents were extremely knowledgeable but I think I would remember much more of the history had General Washington provided the tour. Hope you are planning to create many more of these tours with both of the Washingtons. Thank you!
Amazing that he is still giving tours.

Thank you, Mr President. I had the pleasure of visiting your noble home decades ago, when I was a child and a young adult. Please tender my respects to your lady wife.
Great video. Wonderfully done. A tour with the General gives it that personal touch inside the mind of Washington and how his home makes him feel 👍
I cannot tell a lie. George, you rock!
Thank you Mr. President for the great tour
Please do more of these. This was excellent!
What a wonderful video. I've watched this many times, it's very convincing that you are actually being led on a tour of Mount Vernon, by the first President and General himself. Amazing.
I did enjoy it, thank you for the tour. It was nice hearing the personal stories that went along with the tour.
That is so beatiful place. Als,o is very well preserved. God Bless U.S.A.

Oh i loved that place, i used to ride by bike from DC to there when i was young now i am 82 and my memories of going there stay with me. The gentleman is very interesting to listen to. My middle name is Lawrence, named after my uncle who was killed by a car when he was 5 years old.
I grew up in Arlington VA. DC was my playground. Ice skated on the reflecting pool, climbed the stairs to the Washington monument, shinnied up to ride behind Andrew Jackson on his statue across from the White House. I went to all the museums and galleries on the National Mall and sat in the Senate gallery. You could do all these things as a boy in the 1950s. I would always stand for a long time in front of a glass case in the Smithsonian. Inside it, on a maniquine, was George Washington's military dress uniform.
Thank you George For the tour - It was better than being on the tour I was on when I visited there in 2017. Your home is Amazing !
We need more of these!! ❤❤
