Questions: in the column of bank 1, what does “from sms” mean? And can you give me some examples of company where they give stocks as a form of compensation?

@@TK-ml5pv From SMS means I get a text message everytime I spend money. So I can directly input the amount the SMS tells me (i.e. Jeff you have 100 USD left in your account as of August 1st)

I totally agree with the content of this financial tracker. Been doing it for almost two years as a 'cashflow' monitoring in excel and ever since I have been very aware of my income and expenses as I am actively informed on my expenditures that I would usually call irrelevant. Hey Jeff! love your organization content and your work, but I was wondering if you use a more in-depth technique or template including the expenses of each month (gas, car, food, fast food, outing etc. ...) to be even more intentional on the expenses that are not "essential" and that we can do without? Hi Jeff! Been a subscriber since last year when I was doing job hunting, now I'm preparing for my undergrad graduation ceremony then first corporate job (fortunate enough to get to choose which to go for, thanks to all your informative and eye-opening videos!), and this template comes in sooo handy as I'm trying to be more (adult-like) mindful with my spending habit, thank you so much! Till now I've been using only Excel spreadsheet like literally just list out all my spending every month and color code based on categories but it takes way too much time compared to this.. Definitely gonna try this out, and I'm interested in how you track your income as well, so super looking forward to that video! Thanks for the idea Mohit! But in my personal opinion the best apps for productivity are the ones that you're already using and works for you :)

Nothing quite like seeing for yourself how much you spent on nonessentials in a month 😂 It’s painful yet effective if you wanna curb future discretionary spending, no use in fretting over sunk costs after all And I really appreciate the thought you put into your tracker as well as the accounting principles you’ve applied :D Must be that EY experience coming in handy haha. Anyways, thanks for the video and the tracker! P.S. What’s your most and least favorite thing about the Sony WH-1000 (if that was an actual purchase)? 👀 I’m torn between that one and the Bose QuietComfort so I’m curious about what your thoughts are on it. And yes, I’ve been spending a lot on electronics lately 😂

Hahaha actually I did consulting in EY, I didn't really touch accounting. I actually did terribly in my accounting classes in college! So the joke in the video was the 8th edition of the Sony WH series (it's only up to 4 now), I did purchase the 4 myself but it's honestly the same as the 3, so for the price, I think the 3 is definitely worth it. I've tried my friend's Bose QC ii but I prefer the Sony ones more!

Ah, I forgot for a moment that you did consulting! Maybe it’s because of my major but now whenever I see mentions of the Big Four, I can’t help but only think accounting when in reality firms like EY actually offer multiple lines of service xD My bad my bad Oooh, can’t believe I missed that 😯 Man, I should have realized there was a joke involved when I saw Elon’s name right under it 😂 I’ll probably be ordering both headphones to try out myself but if I do decide on Sony then I’ll definitely go for the 3! I do something a bit different: I write down all my Income and spending for the month in a massive excel spreadsheet. Each spending item is given a category and sub-category. Then I run a pivot table and look at the total for each category and add the final number to my NW. Still, I might adopt the final look of your Net Worth calculator :)

Yes it's a great way to not waste time but still know what you spent the most money on that month!

Since high school, I've created a Google spreadsheet to track all my income and expenses. After this video, I'm wondering if putting down every single spend (like individual purchases) is at all efficient anymore. I do categorize the different types of spend and such, but every end of the month I would have to sit down and put everything in. x__x

Thanks to your advice I have been able to have a lot of interviews with great companies (in Spain that is not easy) and I have landed a full time role as a UX Designer for Accenture (with little previous experience)! Hey Jeff, how would you track an amount you transferred from your savings account to your current account for a bigger purchase? You will see this in the expense report but you can't add it to the income column since it's not new income

I've been using the Google sheets templates for monthly and annual budgets, and they're pretty good. I like both ideas of writing down your top 5 spends (ooh err) and using the currency conversion tool (BTC to GBP!?)

Back home in the UK and now here in the US, I've seen an unbelievable amount of people -- both youth and adults -- who have no idea, and/or possibly desire, to review their spend and income. Your template is great! Every week, I volunteer 2 hours at local non-profits to help families better understand their finances and how they can monitor their savings potential. I appreciate your efforts on this video as it's a very small learning curve for many and doesn't require heaps of dedication.
