The ending of the dart missing the bullseye is so cool because Akechi never missies the bullseye when you play darts with him the show the despite his claim that he doesn’t relate or doesn’t understand is a lie because of this it shows how Alechi also knows how it feels to be a not in control of his own life and it cause his ever steady hand to shake.

My one toxic ship that I will die defending. The dynamic between these two is so *rich* with drama, with conflict. This comic perfectly encapsulates Akechi's characterization, while also giving Joker a deeply believable and personal reason behind his actions. Perfection.

What do I gain? I'll have you know that playing darts makes us better at high-fiving and even the shadows respect a clean high-five.

I love that, of the three options given as the player, Joker ultimately says NONE of them. All three options sound incredibly detatched by comparison to what actually comes out of Joker's mouth. Its not just some snarky response or whatever. It's honest, something that Akechi has very little experience with. So, when Joker asks if that makes sense, the idea that he doesn’t really feel like his life is his own, Akechi lies, because he doesnt know how to honestly admit that that struck a cord with him. It's a cool concept to see in a Doylian context, but from a Watsonian standpoint, it still makes sense. The Grail pitted them against each other, placed them on opposite ends of a board for a fame niether knew was happening until it was far, far too late to turn back. I mean, how much of their lives, their actions, were purely their own as opposed to guided by a divine hand? They were never meant to be anything other than enemies, rivals at best. Their relationship was doomed from the start. So, of course, them finding solace in one another, anyway, is going to feel like their own choice, not the whims of a mad god.

This is a great video I love how it plays into Akechi’s insecurities how he believes that every person has a ulterior motive a reason to be or act kind I definitely believe that from his history he would develop that sort of mentality. I also like the idea for Joker how he sees himself that the decision he makes aren’t truly his on both him being the character the player interprets and how he sees being friends with akechi as the only choice he genuinely choose playing very much into their similarities and contradictions.

Not only is the voice acting great, but the editing is so good!!? The timing of the panels, the background music, the sound effects, the transitions. I love how disjointed the scene shifts feel while still being connected, and the background music dropping at the end was perfect, it made everything Joker said feel so real and raw. I don't remember the last time I saw such a high effort Persona fandub, this is just incredible! I've seen this comic before and already absolutely loved it, but the voices and editing added so much and elevated it so much further than I thought possible! You're so underrated, keep up the amazing work!

What's so magnetic about their dynamic (and ship) is how they continue to revolve around and complement one another's journey. While they do have some notable or assumable similarities, even their differences reflect one another. Akechi masks himself in a rejoiced and appreciated falsehood of a detective, with the looks and demeanor to match. Ren's got a snarky attitude and canonically those smart ass responses are the ones he's known to make often. His reputation is trashed even before the rumors, and he's a pariah that people willingly lie about. Ren could look at Akechi and see what everyone else saw, and its easy to imagine him being bitter enough about it and jealous of it when he first met Akechi. Akechi, however, had no friends, no bonds, no one he trusted during the hardest times in his life and even when we met him, though he meets the group and ren, and sees someone who has what he doesn't (though its arguable when he found out about the truth of what shido put ren through and how he felt about that discovery). While Ren was clearly in a similar boat at the start (we don't know if he had any close or even just simple friendships, he lost them and whatever original relationship with his parents when he was pushed into agreeing to Guilt) he gains friends, gains bonds that matter more to him than public opinion. As toxic as Akechi is, and he has some good reasons to be, you see his jealousy, and royal goes out of its way to showcase how he wishes things could've been different, in particular because of wanting to be with Ren (specifically friendship, but easy to read it as that and romantically). All of this makes them so compelling.

Yooooo this is so good. What a gut punch. Love the editing and the implication that this is an argument they just keep having over and over until Joker finally spills.

It's kind of off-topic, but it really does remind me of how sometimes i think about the characters whose lives we are basically controlling. How detatched that would make them feel. Kind of like Kris from Deltarune.

This is going to stick in my mind for a long, long while. Seriously, I loved this. The editing, the voices sound so, so great together, and the comic is amazing. That bit of Joker feeling like a puppet reminded me of Deltarune and Kris, and... oh, man, it makes SO much sense. Thank you so, so much for this, really. You did an awesome job!

2:31 If they knew the truth of their world is a video game their minds to comprehend why the player is controlling Ren and then to discover their world has been made and copied for millions as a sequel to other “personas” and in a giant timeline all for money and entertainment for both old and new honestly idk how they would feel.

One little thing I really like about this comic is that I've noticed throughout the video, that Akechi's eyes are lifeless looking, and that's because his eyes are missing a spark of light in them. But for a single tiny moment, with Akira telling him that him caring for Akechi reminds himself that he can still take agency of his life, however small it is. And there, a tiny spark of light slowly appears in Akechi's eyes. But it's very brief, and we're back again to the soulless dark eyes in the next panel. :,,,) Speaking of realisations, I never realised it before, but the scenes are going _everywhere_ despite the fact that they're actually still in Penguin Sniper in all of this. Only reason I'm realising is because they're wearing different clothes and playing chess. xD And gahhhh, coupled with the editing of the video. It's just so good. I love the unique little touches this video has. The screen warning for spoilers in the style of the game

aaaaaaaaa what a heartfelt and thoughtful comment!! i'm very glad you enjoyed the video and the comic!! i absolutely recommend checking out sky's other works as well, they're seriously just as amazing fr i'm glad someone finally pointed out the little glint in Akechi's eyes, they're present in the original comic as well so i wanted to try and find a way to do them justice in how they're portrayed in a subtle way. thank you very much for your kind words, it really means a lot to see so much support on this comic dub, i actually hope to be releasing another shuake dub soon when i'm not busy! but fr thank you for watching

Oh wow! I didn't expect you to reply like 30 minutes after my comment 😭😭-- wait no FIFTEEN MINUTES after I posted it! YOW! I was expecting it to take at least day until you saw. xDDD Ahhhhhh! I've actually looked at their other works on Tumblr, I just never remember their name but know of their distinct style. I notice that their Akechi has a little fanged tooth in their works 🤭 it's very adorable. Oh my gosh, I didn't realise that no one else pointed out the little glint in Akechi's eyes, but I'm happy to deliver, as it bothered me why Akechi's eyes felt off. And then I took a look at Akira's eyes and realised why. 🥲 My boy is so sad. He needs a hug. Oh boy! A new ShuAke dub in the works??? Oh my gosh it's our lucky day whenever it drops. 😳✨✨✨ You're welcome! And thank _you_ for creating this beautiful work of art and sharing with us
