In P2 they gave us a gay option and that was back in 2000. We were also given Aegis in P3P in the female route (there was some heavy lesbian overtones and I’m not sure if that was intentional). I don’t know why they won’t do it again.

Agreed. I'm not one of those people who want characters to be gay just for the sake of it, and I wasn't even /trying/ to headcanon Yu as being gay for Yosuke when I started playing, but there is so much fodder for it that it's what ended happening some hours in. And Carl Bloke, yeah, definitely. Yosuke strikes me as a genuinely good guy who sometimes is really insensitive nonetheless, because his image and what he percieves as normal matters to him: his shadow calls him out on wanting to be the hero, and yet that part of him is never truly adressed. This would've made for good character development

@@non-binarycoding5505 Let's not forget that after Yosuke saw the "photochopped" picture of Yu and himself as bride and groom, he says something like "Why am I the girl?! It could've easily been you and- ... on second thought, scratch that. It totally would be me." Almost had a heart attack until he added "You looked too scary as a girl." And don't get me started on the "I'm gonna expose myself!"-moment that takes place a few minutes later. Match made in heaven, I tell ya!

There's a moment in Persona 5 Strikers where you can essentially say _you're looking good"_ to Ryuji in the baths, to kinda break that moment when the boys are getting thirsty for the girls next door, and Ryuji just nonchalantly _"thanks, I've been working out. Wait what?"_ Quite a striking contrast with Yosuke, I thought, who probably would have screamed "quit it partner, you're freaking me out!!!" or something with that vibe. Someone comfortable with their sexuality vs someone not comfortable with their sexuality.

Virgins: “Ryuji is gay!” Chads: “Yosuke is gay!” See here’s the difference Yosuke had a deleted S Rank scene that was cut out.

8:06 caught up in the inerent homoeroticism of standing half naked less than 5 feet away from each other

I definitely wouldn't have romanced Yosuke - I wouldn't event want him as a friend - but I believe taking out the romance option was a mistake, in that it made Yosuke's character inconsistent. I think several scenes were written with the idea that Yosuke was in love with Souji. For example, when he's being homophobic with Kanji, or when he's behaving like a creepy pervert with the girls, it's mostly his attempt at convincing himself he isn't, in fact, gay and attracted to his best friend. Him being a dick to Naoto (calling her useless, etc.) also makes sense in that context. When she joins the team, Naoto basically replaces Yosuke as the second-in-command, and therefore as Souji's "partner", so Yosuke is just reacting like a jealous lover. Atlus removed his attraction for Souji, but they kept the many scenes that were explained by that attraction. So all that's left of Yosuke is an unlikable teenager who acts like a dick to Kanji and Naoto without any reason. They should have either kept the romance stuff or rewritten the scenes that were based on the romance idea.

In Persona 5 Tatica, Joker can imagine himself marrying one of the phantom thieves; most of the scenes are comedic including Yusuke and Ryuji’s but none of the jokes are because it’s gay unlike in Persona Q where the male options were added just to make fun of them so i at least have a bit of hope for atlus to actually portray us as normal humans in the future

This is the most realistic persona game because you can act gay around the homies

Kanji is either way more open minded than Yosuke or he's naïve. Personally I think Kanji came to terms with the fact that in his heart, he's admittedly attracted to masculine personalities (as evidence by his shadow, which became his persona after he came to terms with it). I'd like to think Kanji at least has a slight attraction to Yu based on how he handles himself. Yu's confidence is very attractive.

P4 cast are just one big fruity joke 😂 even in P5 the fruity flirting was mainly between Joker and Akechi
