For me the P3 MC has still the biggest balls of all time. Just imagine this... you walk through a big city and all of a sudden everyone turns to coffins... when you finally come to your new apartment you have to sign a contract for "the usual stuff" to a small creepy kid... and when you ask about that kid that made you sign the contract, no one knows what you are talking about... I would be freaking out and run as far as I could

In the dancing games when paired with Sho(ikutsuki's son, the redhead guy with the swords) he essentially fights him unarmed, intimidates him with his hands on his pockets, and hits the guy, when leaving sho tried to attack from the back and P3 MC doesn't even look back and just smirks as he's leaving lol ... In P4AU the entire cast of Adult Persona 3(without MC) and Persona 4 had trouble with the guy and barely defeats him.

The editing and comedic timing in this is SO clean

I just want to cuddle a toaster and take a little nap.

Here’s how to deal with Marin Karin. Don’t put her as heal support, everyone may have healing spells doesn’t mean they’re meant to heal (outside of last boss. Than they heal fine.)

@@tabuukiller13 the thing about marin karin is, although the player can't see it, bosses and enemies *do* have weaknesses and resistances to different ailments, and mitsuru's AI will actually check for this if the enemy is scanned, meaning you will not see it if it literally cannot work. Mitsuru is *correct* if she is trying to marin karin things like (for example) furious gigas, as it is one of few bosses set with neutral resistance to charm and panic. This, mixed with that specific boss' strong attacks, means the designers intended for her and you (the player) to stop them from moving all together or get them to kill eachother. Intrepid knight (the floor boss prior) resists charm, but it also makes the fight significantly easier if she lands it, meaning that while she is somewhat less likely to try, its still logical from an AI perspective for her to do so occasionally. Its very much so the same problem the root comment of this thread has, if you complain about donald in kingdom hearts, its because you've never checked the tactics screen and haven't made an effort to understand *why* he's taking those actions.

This was really funny, thanks. I had a dream last night about my dead cat from irl, having come back from the dead, to spend one last moment with me. I woke up crying heavily, due to how much I miss my cat, her name was Creampuff. She was the sweetest and most tolerant cat, that ever existed. And, she loved me dearly, as expressed by her when she was alive, that she'd try to break into my room while I was away from home, then get very sad knowing I'm not home. Thanks for the laughs with this video with it's editing too. I really needed something funny to ease my mind of that grief of my dead cat. At least for now

I honestly think you'll enjoy the character growth in this game far more than p4/p5. Considering your party member's lives don't completely revolve around the main character completing their social links.

@@egbertmilton4003 healing from gameplay(any gameplay for that matter) has never mattered for story though. Otherwise you could say the same for P4 and 5 where the near deaths aren't just outright stopped.

In Persona 4, all the characters that die are dead for an extended period of time that likely can’t be healed from, and Nanako only was put near deaths door by the TV World’s influence interacting with her purity and lacking a shadow due to youth for a decent period of time. In Persona 5, while I question why they didn’t try healing Shiho, it’s atleast plausible that healing can only be done in the Metaverse on injuries done in the Metaverse, otherwise Ryuji’s bad leg would have easily recovered, and all the deaths are not able to be healed, due to mental shutdowns causing heart attacks, or due to the length of time after death. There is no excuse for Persona 3, as all these injuries happen in the domain a Persona can be used, not to mention Junpei and Shinji don’t immediately die from the attacks that kill them. Persona 2 did a better job with healing outside of gameplay, so there is a precedence that P3 fails to cover.

@@darknessknows1235 Just because they don’t heal in cutscenes anymore, doesn’t mean it doesn’t play into the Persona world. The fact that you see people not instantly die and the people around them not healing them for no established reason despite having the ability to do so at the times, and defend this garbage by acting as if healing is impossible in cutscenes is embarrassing. If it really was so hard, then we shouldn’t be able to heal from anything in gameplay when we are also shot or incinerated with intense flames or hit by most attacks. Your argument on grievous injuries is nonsensical. The game failed to properly establish how healing works outside of gameplay and it leads to horrendous writing like this.

This actually made me crack up on my holiday road trip. Genuinely such a great one Ram, keep it up!

Playing Persona 3 is MUCH easier to handle if you set tactics for your party members. For example, Mitsuru is usually a useless party member, spamming status attacks. Setting her to Full Assault, however, makes her skip those and actually use damage every turn. Think of Persona 3 as more of a Tactics management game in battle rather than a straight RPG during battles and you’ll have a better time with the AI. P3 can be an odd duck. An odd, edgy, emo duck. And I love it all the more for that. So glad to see it here.

Hope you have fun with the game ramsaes. The best advice I can give possible which is the biggest trap people fall for is tactics will save you a headache, and Yukari is the best dedicated healer besides yourself but you can get stupidly strong without portables balance breaking

When i was playing this game at first i really couldn't fathom how little incentive there is to keep you playing but it was nice to get used to the combat and knowing the characters for a bit I've surprisingly found myself appreciating the lack of direct control of the other characters (even though they love to waste their mp when they could... Not do that)

the thing about the party controls, you can tell your party member to knock down consecutively once you get into the later parts of the game once everyone is experienced. What you are able to reliably tell your party members what to do reflects their growth in the story. That's why yukari is a dumbass in the earlier part of the game. I love the story telling mechanic here but i'm not gonna lie saying it doesnt hurt not being able to control what the party member does.

One of it not my favorite game of all time is Persona 3 FES and glad you are making a video about this.

Persona 3 and FES have my favorite battle system in the series...yeah even with the lack of controlled party members (which can be modded to be as such now, hooray!) Unlike later games you have to be precise with hitting weaknesses. If you do an all physical attack and fail to get one crit, you don't get another turn, same goes for elements. So instead of just spamming Mabufu on an assortment of enemies, you're encouraged to keep Bufu on deck to keep the extra turns going. This goes double for enemies, as they can still lay out intense pain, but so long as they don't crit all your party members they don't get to go again like in later games. Vanilla P4 is a miserable experience for this reason, as you can play all your cards right against say Kanji's shadow, only for an all targetting attack to crit one party member, into another, into death for no reason other than stupid RNG It also provides a solid reason to decline all out attacks, as enemies will take a turn to recover from a crit or weakness and don't immediately attack, giving you time to heal or pop buffs/debuffs. The game also allows you to grow any Persona of your choosing to max stats thanks to the police station, so if you're like me and get Throne with Mahamoan and a Hama Boost along with the best healing spells in the game, you've got the ultimate tank, ultimate grinder, and are impervious to instant death with max stats

"they will just kill that downed demon" tactics: knock down. I know you didn't have it yet in that part of the plot, but the fact you unlocked new tactics as the game progresses is to show your growth as a leader, what's more every fight in the game (answer fights not included) is balanced around the fact you can't control your party, leaving plenty of room to make up for their errors. analyzing enemies does also give the default AI setting full knowledge (regardless of what is hidden from the player) which usually keeps them from being too stupid, or you can make use of "assign target" and "stand by" if you already know what you're doing. I fully believe certain floor bosses early on were designed around the idea of learning these tactics, because getting the knock down and then making the others wait so you could keep the boss from ever moving is sometimes the best way to win, but that might've just been advance tech I used to skip grinding. however I also think half the bosses in the answer weren't designed with any actual solution other than luck so maybe I don't know anything. all that aside, I know it may not be the authentic original experience, but modding/cheating in party control is pretty easy for people who'd rather have that, and p3p has been crowned the de facto version, which has it from the start. I won't pretend party control isn't better from a gameplay perspective, but thematically not having it really highlights the fact these are all disparate individuals dealing with their own problems and not a group of close knit friends. narukami's friends will die for him at rank 1 (in the original, this is changed for golden) but half of the cast of persona 3 never even actually hangs out with you (in the original, girl mode portable changed this). Obviously everyone grows closer over time, but the fact the majority of the party has growth completely independent from you the player just highlights their desire to make their own decisions and not want second-to-second micromanaging

Time for a JRPG useful tips and tricks Info Dump! You do actually have *some* control on your party in the tactics menu, primarily you should use Knock Down once you have it because otherwise they will infact double hit knocked down enemies instead of knocking more down. On the note of Knockdowns, they work differently to 4 and 5, once knocked down getting hit gets you up, but if you're knocked down *you will lose your turn.* This rule applies globally, so you can stunlock enemies by intentionally holding back when they're downed. As a general hint, always keep an eye on your weakness, since your turn is so important being knocked down *can* lead to a game-over. (Oh, and while the AI is generally pretty alright, be wary of them stupidly whacking an enemy off the ground) Unlike P4 or P5, multi-target moves don't give an extra turn (magaru and stuff), and multi-hit moves have a random chance of _fricking you over_ since unless otherwise stated it's rng that it hits again, so Protag should watch out. As you know, this is a Megaten game, if the Protagonist dies, back to the last save you go. If you separate on a floor and the Protag is stuck on his own in battle, you can call your friends by going into Tactics, and then Navigator, there should be a button that gets them to appear, although i'm not sure how because i never used it. Tartarus checkpoints are before the 'mini' bosses, not after. You can also hold R in battle to view turn order! Unlike later games, physical is 3 types: Slash, Strike, and Pierce, Counter skills are valuable because of this. Re Patra and Recarmdra are usually horrible, but hey maybe someone will get good use out of them.. (Re Patra helps up a knocked-down teammate, Recarmdra reduces Protag's health to 1 but fully heals allies HP) You shouldn't think you're too good to not analyse enemies, Party members will know all affinities if you've analysed them, even if it's a floor guardian and you don't get to see it! *Complete Elizabeth's requests before the deadline if you miss even one, you don't get more* In order to get Player advantage, you need to hit the shadow from behind without them noticing you, it's highly jank at times but shadows usually can't sense you from behind while walking. And of course, Don't be a dick to your friends, don't cancel after making plans, make you hang out with your friends every 90(boys)/60(girls) days because if you don't they get pissed with you, when a girl falls for you (you *can't* decline) make sure you don't hang out with a different girl twice in a row, look up the details on that one i'm fuzzy on them, however Rank 10 is unbreakable so don't worry about it past that point, AND OF COURSE.... Remember to burn your bread.

The only thing I like better than P3Fes as a whole is P3P FeMC route (and of course all the new qol changes as well as new mechanics too). Like, it's literally a different kind of experience with the interactions and social links. Atlus could just slap in the same things on both route, but instead they do more by creating newer experiences instead. Especially the dialogues within dungeons. There's this one time I remember where if you romance Aki, Shinji and Ken and bring them all into your party to explore the dungeon, one of them (I forgot who) just comment on how clean or something the FeMC room is. Only for the other 2 to basically be like "wait, you've been to her room?" "Wait, you too?".

Oh, the first thing that comrs to mind about P3 is how it's the best one, the toast is secondary

I thought the P3 PC project had implemented control for allies? It's probably not on by default. Also the idea with splitting the party, is you get more experience if you fight alone...but you shouldn't do this unless you are overleveled for that floor.

I was just showing my kids your videos as an example of accents. Not sure how you'll take that... I also sent some of your videos to a friend of mine after I sent him Tales of Berseria and Code Vein for Christmas. In the coming year, I'd really like to see you tackle God Eater 3 and Lost Dimension. They're both on sale right now and I'm sure your computer will run them well. Believe it or not, Code Vein takes place in the God Eater world. It's just that instead of being anime Dark Souls, it's anime Monster Hunter. They're really stretching the limits are Namco... I've been a subscriber for a long time, and your channel keeps getting better. Maybe it's because I like weird JRPGs or cheese toasties (it's the 🧀), but your channel keeps improving. Vanilla Persona 3 didn't have controllable party members either and FES came out before Persona 4, unlike P3P. P3P got all the quality improvements from P4G.

@@kellyjohana516 for better or for worse, in P4 and portable for this matter AoEs are too op, in Fes it all feels more reliable like knowing exactly how the attack will affect the enemy and all, there's also the fact that enemy's can just one more your entire party to oblivion in a totally different scale in P4 than in P3FES, well this is my experience as someone who has finished a Orpheus only run on FES in hard mode with no downfusing and tried to do something similar with vanilla P4 and failed miserably in the kanji boss fight, really that thing is so hard, and SP management is horrible. I may have gotten to the excentricities of FES systems way too much, but really P4 feels harder than P3FES for me.

@@asafesseidonsapphire P3 is balanced around not being able to control your party members and being able to split the party during exploration. Because of that encounters are balanced around only having one party member who can effectively buff and debuff on command

Ya know what I've never got that people don't usually mention? The fact that this games final boss, compared to 4 vanillas, is so much cooler of a design. Like 4 is literally just a giant eye until golden. I understand symbolism, etc., But man. Golden really fixed that. Still not as cool as nyx

I really liked that it's more unforgiving than later titles. Your social links can broke if you be mean to them or cheat on girlfriend, rendering it useless. You can be tired in dungeon and your teammates can just leave. Your teammates actually existed in dungeon and they can get in fights by themselves, and to revive them you actually need to find their corpse. Also Elizabeth is complete bullshit of a boss, you really need at the end of the fight to pray that at the end counter would work or you lose.

4:01 basically every japanese game ever....
