Reload has toned down quite a number of things from the original. It's not as uncomfortable at moments. I doubt this is gonna be as intense when they redo it. If they redo it.

All things considered, they never showed his body at the end of the journey, and his death was not natural. I really wonder if something like this happened to his real body.

While I was watching The Answer, I was constantly wondering what they did with his body... Personally, I think they just buried him like any normal dead person. The fact is that his life energy ( his soul, basically ? ) left his body and took the form of a statue shaped like him which is the Great Seal locking Nyx away from humanity. Life literally left his body. So he technically died like any other person. I don't see why anything unusual would happen to his body after that... As they said, "it just seemed like he fell asleep" but then never woke up, so that means his body was still there and nothing special happened to it. It was just a lifeless corpse, that's just it. Well, that's my opinion, anyway. ^^

I'm a little late but it made me wonder what would happen if elizabeth rescued him from being a seal, i mean if he was buried and elizabeth succeeded would he live like a zombie? because maybe his soul can be saved but his body??? aaaa idk i mean, perhaps they have his body?? (that would be super weird tho) maybe it didn't rotten like any other body? that makes me surrender to the fact that he really won't come back at all although they make you think that elizabeth can do something, maybe it's just fanservice, but I don't think we'll see minato with his friends again in anything that's not a "dream"XD or a spin off sorry if my English is bad

What if it's the opposite? (Not sure if someone already thought of this) The one in the great seal is his real body and the one who shows up in promised day is his shadow. Since he got universe arcana It might be possible.(like clone) After I saw teddie in human form and this scene I was slighty convinced. It's just a theory ofc... I just thought of reason they can bring him back if elizabeth succeded in her journey. Tho i don't mind if makoto become attendant or something.

@strangearbiter467 The opening was toned down considerably, in my opinion. The frantic and panicky camera shots while Burn My Dread Last Battle plays are just absent in Reload. It also makes it much clearer that Yukari isn't holding a real gun and eliminates almost all tension.

pure guess work here: when SEES defeats this shadow it starts to die/disappear. since this shadow is all their wishes to bring back Minato/Makato when it dies it dissolves into mashed up words overlapping other words which probably said stuff like "come back" "why?!" "don't die" so there.

The Shadow Protagonist was formed from SEES' regrets. This seems to me like a visual metaphor for them discarding the grief surrounding him (hence why he dissolves from a layer of words; ideas into flesh) and accepting he is dead on a basic level. Alternatively, the brain and nervous system never dissolve, instead disappearing into the darkness. Since the Persona series (perhaps ironically) takes a post-religious viewpoint on the Soul (the Soul being in the mind, where Shadows, Personae and even the concept of the 'heart' dwell) you could interpret that as a sign that the Protagonist's soul still endures beyond the sacrifice of his lifeforce to create the Great Seal. This is supported in Persona 4, whereupon defeating Margaret in NG+ she basically tells you as much: that Elizabeth left the Velvet Room to seek out a way to free the P3 Protagonist's soul from the Great Seal.

Note: Makoto was trapped in the abyss too because his friends had social links with him and they also worked backwards, they chained him to the real world indirectly and because of them the abyss was stuck in the earth, and as it was stuck in the moment the earth got back to normal after nyx, it probably kept a small place stopped and it eventually expanded once time could not push farther than from where the abyss held it And when SEES beated Makoto you returned his soul to the door, reason why the abyss started to colapse, it was returning back to normal and disapearing as they severed their conection to Makoto The problem was that it was only holding on temporally by SEES presence and then the rrst of the game is their dispute and the fight aganist Eberus, which actually happened The final door showed a vision of what happened to Makoto and transported SEES to him So they actually beated Eberus

You have to fight a being of your emitions that takes for of someone you held those emotions to. I think the letters are the unspoken emotions of Aigis, Mentos (metis) and C.O.

i remember from interviews and forum threads that they wanted to show the difference between a traditional death and the death of a shadow (the acceptance of grief or regrets) and this unnerving feeling was what they wanted to capture for upcoming persona games where they deal more with inner struggles and whatnot. in this case i think it's more of like, they wanted to show the slow process of SEES accepting the death of their leader and how their regrets are melting away. it's not meant to be weird or creepy for jumpscares, but they wanted to convey how monumental and scary coming to terms with your feelings are. i wish i could link the interview i heard this from but it's really old and i don't really remember it anymore. but yeah, it's just creepy because they were testing out CG mechanics and trying to explain philosophy at the same time. the music is absolutely terrifying tho.
