Persephónē, the wonderful daughter of the wonderful goddess Demeter and the mighty Zeus; lover of Hades and indirect the reason why we have the seasons of the year. A wonderful deity. The music is also marvellous - thank you once again.

Ancient Hellas - Ελλάδα is my favourite civilization. And i love Hellenic culture. Listening to your music, I mentally travel back to the past two thousand years ago and imagine myself as a Hellenic girl somewhere in Corinth, Miletus, Syracuse, on the island of Rhodes, in other cities and islands, and generally everywhere where the ancient Hellenes lived.Thank you very much for what you do and for the music you create, you are very talented!

Women were treated worse than chattel in ancient Greece. It was marginally better for Egyptian women. Don't idealize that shit.

@@Qrtuop What nonsense! I'm sorry, but that's not true. All these are lies, cliches and stereotypes. And outright exaggerations. Mostly from writers and "historians" of the 18th and 19th centuries, which continue to be repeated by modern lazy and incompetent historians. In Greece, women could divorce on their own, take their dowry and part of their property. The dowry belonged to the woman and no one else. In fact, there was no united Greece at all. It wasn't even called that way. It was called Hellas. There were hundreds of city-states and islands where everything was completely different, including attitudes towards women. The Greeks were divided into Aeolians, Ionians, Dorians and Achaeans. Among the Dorians and Aeolians, women have always had a high status. In the Ionian cities of Asia Minor, too, the position of women was better, since there was a crossroads of different cultures. Ionian cities seem to have been particularly liberal and advanced concerning female education. Athens was the worst, but Athens was just one city. In many other places, women owned and managed their own property. For example, in aeolic Lesbos, where the poet Sappho is from. Or in doric Crete. Or in doric Rhodes. I've already talked about the divorce. In the city of Locri in southern Italy, a law has been passed prohibiting women from divorcing their husbands in order to marry a man younger than their husband. And at the request of the female citizens of Locri, men were also forbidden to divorce their wives in order to marry a woman younger than their wife. Women were quite engaged in literary work. The names of nine female poets have been preserved, and some excerpts from their poems, but there were many more female poets in Greece. Female poetesses competed even with men in the poetic art. For example, Corinne of Boeotia, who had statues erected in her city, had her portraits painted. We have unambiguous evidence to demonstrate that women who wrote poetry travelled to festivals and performed alongside male poets. Moreover, they were by and large treated equally on the merits of their work regardless of their gender. They were awarded civic honours and financial rewards on par with men. In addition to festivals, women poets took part in competitions-the two could, of course, coincide. There were also female artists. They are mentioned in the sources. Women were in philosophical schools, for example, in the school of Epicurus or the school of Pythagoras. Pythagoras' wife was a philosopher and mathematician. His daughter was also a philosopher and mathematician. Aristotle's wife was a learned botanist. Areta from Cyrene headed her father's philosophical school and wrote philosophical works. Women also participated in music competitions. There were many female musicians, dancers and singers. And priestesses, by the way. There were many priestesses of different goddesses. Women participated in ceremonies, danced and played musical instruments during the processions. They composed religious hymns. Sappho was visited by women from all over Greece. She taught them versification and poetic skills. As well as playing musical instruments. There were music and dance schools in Greece. The Carthaginians copied the outfits and hairstyles of the Greek women who lived in Sicily, who did not sit all days in their houses at all, as is often claimed. There's one example of a greek woman who influenced politics: Damareta was the wife of the Syracusan tyrant Gelon. During the war with Carthage in 480 BC, like other women, she gave her jewelry for military needs. At the request of the Carthaginians, she facilitated the conclusion of peace after the Battle of Himera; in gratitude, they presented her with a golden crown worth one hundred talents. Around 479 BC, a coin weighing 10 attic drachmas (decadrachma) was minted from this crown and other loot, which received the name damareteion in honor of the ruler's wife. The obverse depicted the quadriga of the goddess Niki, on the reverse - the head of the nymph Arethusa, surrounded by four dolphins. After her husband's death she married the second time. The women accompanied their male relatives when they moved to other cities. So they travelled a lot. They could meet their future husbands there, in other cities. No one prevented women from making deals or engaging in trade. Non-citizen women in Athens had the same rights as non-citizen men. At the same time, they paid less tax and were exempt from military service. Women who were not citizens in Athens were not only residents of other cities, but also daughters of illegitimate marriages or freedwomen. Women were also engaged in the craft. In the Hellenistic period, the situation of women became even better. Gender roles became more relaxed. Women have become the benefactors of cities. They took part in the life of their cities. Greek women loved makeup, hairstyles and dressing beautifully. They loved clothes in bright colors. They loved drawings and patterns on clothes. Greek women loved makeup, hairstyles and dressing beautifully. They loved clothes in bright colors. They loved drawings and patterns on clothes. Laws were constantly being passed prohibiting women from wearing purple and gold to temples, as well as overly bright clothes. By the way, Greek men married women of other nations. Phoenicians and Carthaginians, Etruscans, Scythians, Thracians, Libyans, Celtic princesses in Gaul. Greek mercenaries who served the pharaohs married Egyptian women. I doubt very much that all these women would tolerate a bad attitude towards themselves, different from the attitude they are used to. So don't talk about something you don't know anything about. And even more so to call a great civilization shit.

@@Qrtuop These are stereotypes. Greece was not united, there were many city states, they all differed from each other, and the attitude towards women was different everywhere. Athens is not the whole of Greece. Athens is not the place to judge the whole of Greece. In many places in Greece, they could own and control their property, divorce at will. You don’t have to like it. No one is forcing you to listen to their music. But don’t put down an artist for the media they use in their art. That’s like saying you don’t approve of digital art because they’re made on the computer and not with real paint. That is their preferred method of making art. Every artist is entitled to choose how they make their art.
