Hello, just one question what if a person already has a residence permit (larga Duration)and moves to another EU country and forgot to pay for social security does this incident have an effect when you renew your I.D? or he or she already had the Spanish Passport ( acquired by an immigrant) but not paying any social security for almost 3 years if they renew their passport does this also affect their renewal? thank you.

If I’m an American citizen and had lived in Spain for 5 yrs on a student visa, will I be eligible for Spanish citizenship (through naturalization)? If not, is there an alternative way to get into Spain and acquire citizenship, except marriage, investment, and through descent? I found this back door to Spanish Citizenship by first getting Puerto Rican Citizenship. As an American citizen, you can get PR citizenship in 1 year. After you get that, you can apply for Spanish Citizenship program for former Spanish colonies. It's only two year, and you don't have to surrender your US Citizenship.

@Jakonate I don't know about the student visa. You'd have to talk with a Spanish immigration lawyer. Just my gut feeling would be no. Spain has higher income requirements than neighboring Portugal's D7 visa; but the 2 year process is very short. As a Mexican citizen, you should be able to directly apply for the 2 year process. Hello lawyer, my NIE card has the information about "highly skilled", is it also an EU Blue card? If you are a citizen of a Latinamerican country, for Portugal, Philipinnes, Andorra, or Guinea Ecuatorial you can get citizenship after 2 years in Spain with a legal residency.

If you are planning to get a regular work permit, no. You'd need to apply from your country of origin or there where you have the legal residency.

Unfortunately, it won't be enough time. Years in Spani with the student visa count half for the permanent residency, hence you'd need a total of 10. Therefore, it is much better to modify to any other type of permit, so you just need 5 years to get pr.

@@malikfida8462 That depends on the type of job, as if it is not highly qualified, you need 3 years in Spain with your student visa. Then years with the work permit will count 1 each (you need 5 for PR).

To get PR under a student visa you'll need to stay double the years, hence a total of 10. Therefore, it is much better to enter Spain with a student visa, and then move to a work permit or a non-lucrative visa, depending on your interest.
