This Key Biscayne should change its name to Karen Biscayne. Good thing it is basically a dead end peninsula that leads nowhere. So really no need to go there. Boycott the damn place.

Authority was loosing control so they ban ebikes. That's not the right answer people will only do the opposite and it will make the police act as if they have control. But to inact new laws is the answer. But banning them is childish

Are they going to ban electric cars next if one is involved in a fatal collision? The 66 year old woman was riding around with no helmet & no lights at night. How is anyone supposed to see her?

Key Biscayne is a super affluent area of Miami-Dade county with a population of around 15k people and median household income of $173k. Most people there have e-bikes or scooters as toys as the island is super small. The bigger issue is similar to the anti gun crowd. Start with small, incremental bans and work their way up to large scale bans for an entire nation. The UK and most of Europe is already doing this. Scooters are banned on public roads & e-bikes are restricted to a 15.6mph max or cannot be used on public roads and will be confiscated if you’re caught violating. I think today’s decision makers are quick to react in a knee jerk fashion vs thinking out things more proactively. It’s kind of like owning a performance car and people profiling you for fear of you being an illegal street racer. At the end of the day, most people fear what they do not understand. So we have to do all we can to educate those around us regarding micro mobility. Because if we do not, they will vote and/or enact legislation to take away our ability to enjoy our PEV’s as well as other things we may engage in currently.

Actually, just like The Villages in central Florida, a lot of people there own golf carts, some of them kind of fancy. I believe they need to be registered and insured.

It’s obvious over reach by childish lawmakers . Happens all the time . Like you said in this video , are cars next to ban in this silly town? So if the kid had been riding a standard bike and crashed into this lady wearing no helmet or no lights on her bike at night would they have banned all bikes?

They would only ban electric cars. It's a very specific kind of hate that in their minds is tied to climate change denial.

Local bike shops were contacted by another KZread creator. They weren’t concerned. Local bike clubs weren’t concerned. No 12 year old should be riding an ebike. In Illinois you have to be 16. Can be ticketed, fined and sued for damages.

The age was 14 for a moped of 50cc or less when I was growing up. That’d take a kid up to 50mph.

They would NEVER consider a ban on cars, no matter how many accidents there are. That's the hypocrisy of it all. People are biased. They love their cars but hate ebikes. That's what it all comes down to. People rationalize everything based on how they "feel" about it, not whether it actually makes sense.

Tha accident is bad to hear what happen. But if this is the reaction behind that. Wel l cars should also be band. There is always a fatal car accident happening.
