This is the best violin and viola duet ever performed!! Too bad that there are not any musicians today with the same caliber. Perlman and Zukerman had something special.

Even taken both artists away, this very quality of sound quality is no more (or at least absolutely seldom) in modern playing... The piece as dense, common artwork of solists and orchestra, and if reqested as here the solist plays quite subdued. They have their virtuoso parts anyway. For me at least in this respect I see a signifivant loss of playing culture.

@@powerflower6727 I wrote this comment 12 years ago, when I would have been about 15 years old. It’s very neat to be called back after all these years and remember my past opinions. At the time, Perlman was my absolute favourite violinist and I very much had a teenage super-fan loyalty towards him. Now, 12 years later I can of course recognize the greatness of our current generation of violinists. Vengerov, Hadelich, Ehnes, Jansen is to name but a few legends who have achieved the same echelon.

This is the most amazing perfomance of this piece ever recorded in history!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They make it look SOOOOO easy! It's a real joy to watch them play because they are enjoying it sooo much!

if these guys keep practicing, they'll be pretty good some day.

this is what happens when the two of the greatest friends come together to share feelings with music. Absolutely Sublime. There are 2 more versions each progressing and you can tell they've had more experience and more friendship as they are more intertwined in each recording

After listening a few 'modern' version of Passacaglias by some talented individuals (that we know their names), I wasn't quite happy. So again I came back to this 1977 edition in London by the two famous. Just hats off.

A truly historic performance - full of charm, elegance, and sheer virtuosity. In fact, it might never be surpassed.

Ein Sieg über die Schwerkraft und alles was uns sonst noch festhält. Wenn man bedenkt was alles notwendig ist und überwunden werden muß, um ein solches Ergebnis zu erreichen. Man weiß nicht was man zuerst bestaunen soll; die Fähigkeiten der Instrumentenbauer, die geniale Komposition oder die phantastische Ausführung durch diese Jahrhundertgeiger. Danke für das Video!
