It is not "like". It is literally that. On the other hand, for anyone in distress, this kind of yelling is just screaming the most powerful words on mind to manage the feelings. While the men described in this films probably were not believers, they, however, were children of their time, having got religious uprising and also already felt the ultimate fear of death knowing that life or death is not in their own, or immediately, not in anyone's control. There are few atheists on the battlefield. Facing one's own death is not precisely the moment in which morals, nuanced meanings of the words or such is deeply deliberated. My favourite: "That perkele it was, behind that fir. You, perkele, are not going to deceive Antti Rokka!" at around 0:50.

The reason why the nokia phones are so resistent is because in the production line, the last station for QC has a finn guy screaming to every device with all his strength "PERKELE!!!".If the phone suvives, then it will last until the end of times.

actually i worked in the place where the phones were developed and hardened (drop tested) they were put in a chamber, which was turned around and subjected the protoype to thausands of drops per day. Good times, when apple and motorola stole tech from us- but the customer base were still loyal. (nokia had the first touch screens, against popular believe it was not apple)

i'm finnish and i think he said "kyl nyt on perkele" kyl is shortened from kyllä which means yes and the rest means "now is perkele" kyllä can kinda be used like "aber" in german, you can add it to sentences and the way i understand it, the best translation to english would be to use the word "man", i.e. "man, is it perkele now" = "kyl nyt on perkele"

@@nakkilama Hungarian is my mother tongue. As far as I know, it wouldn't be too difficult for a speaker of Estonian to understand Finnish, at least partially. We cannot say the same about our Khanti and Mansi cousins, unfortunately.

Its easy. Almost every human feeling can be expressed how you say swear words, and long conversation had with friend. Even longer with enemy. The wielding of broom by this guy was nice. In here bears are kinda smallish and dont dare to face the bad temper of average Joe.

In Finnish the sentence is: "tuo perkelehän se on tuol närren takana, et sie perkele petä Rokan Anttia" there is no english translation to all the words but the meaning is basically: "it's that fucker behind that tree, you wont betray Antti Rokka" he spots the soldier that had just grazed him with the bullet and proceeds to go full perkele on him

Antti Rokka is the name of the Finnish Soldier. Finnish dialect is strange, Rokan Anttia is different because the name is object in the sentence and its pretty common in Finland to use the surname first when spoken of someone. He could have also said "et sie perkele petä Antti Rokkaa = you wont betray Antti Rokka" Where the surname comes later.

This helped me practice my perkele.
The reason why the nokia phones are so resistent is because in the production line, the last station for QC has a finn guy screaming to every device with all his strength "PERKELE!!!".If the phone suvives, then it will last until the end of times.

actually i worked in the place where the phones were developed and hardened (drop tested) they were put in a chamber, which was turned around and subjected the protoype to thausands of drops per day. Good times, when apple and motorola stole tech from us- but the customer base were still loyal. (nokia had the first touch screens, against popular believe it was not apple)

i'm finnish and i think he said "kyl nyt on perkele" kyl is shortened from kyllä which means yes and the rest means "now is perkele" kyllä can kinda be used like "aber" in german, you can add it to sentences and the way i understand it, the best translation to english would be to use the word "man", i.e. "man, is it perkele now" = "kyl nyt on perkele"

@@nakkilama I see then, it is an analogue to the "Man, this really sucks!" exclamation in English.Thanks for the translation. Although I also speak a Finno-Ugric language as a mother tongue, Finnish sounds as foreign to me as it gets.

@@nakkilama Hungarian is my mother tongue. As far as I know, it wouldn't be too difficult for a speaker of Estonian to understand Finnish, at least partially. We cannot say the same about our Khanti and Mansi cousins, unfortunately.

Lesson 1: How to make full conversation with Finnish person using only one word with different intonations and contexts. Lesson 2: How to use two words (no niin) instead of just one in similar way.

Its easy. Almost every human feeling can be expressed how you say swear words, and long conversation had with friend. Even longer with enemy. The wielding of broom by this guy was nice. In here bears are kinda smallish and dont dare to face the bad temper of average Joe.

In Finnish the sentence is: "tuo perkelehän se on tuol närren takana, et sie perkele petä Rokan Anttia" there is no english translation to all the words but the meaning is basically: "it's that fucker behind that tree, you wont betray Antti Rokka" he spots the soldier that had just grazed him with the bullet and proceeds to go full perkele on him

Antti Rokka is the name of the Finnish Soldier. Finnish dialect is strange, Rokan Anttia is different because the name is object in the sentence and its pretty common in Finland to use the surname first when spoken of someone. He could have also said "et sie perkele petä Antti Rokkaa = you wont betray Antti Rokka" Where the surname comes later.
