Not all Iyers/smarthas wear the Vibhuti alone. I am an Iyer too, in our family we have the sampradayam of using the yellow Gopi chandanam as the urdhva pundaram instead of the Vibhuti. As Smarthas we do not see the difference between Vishnu or Shiva and accept both of them as being Paramatma svaroopam.

In my opinion the director wants to give us valuable information about our religion through Anusha's doubts. But that need to be in a smoother, cultured way. By calling or naming her a pseudo brings down the elders

Namaskaram to Maha periyava and all. I am confused on the intent of this serial. What is wrong in the questions raised by Anusha. She needs rationale for the practices followed. She says have both spirituality and contemporary life. Whats wrong in it. But, though there are instances where her reasoning is shown as understood, for majority of the portion it has been shown as wrong doing. I believe periyava wanted both. Nithya karma (at specific time only) and then family life as balance between the two. And also not blindly follow the practices and have rationale behind it.

I think you should also factor the Madhwa Brahmins who have a very rich and orthodox Brahminical traditions and steeped in the most esoteric Vedic practices..it's a good idea to factor all 3, Brahmin sects here to bring them to the fore!

Great effort on part of the director and the crew. However, I am not sure if it is nice to discuss about a person in their absence? Especially in front of little children. In this case, this is shown as happening in front of Anusha's daughter. Also, Dushyant Sridhar explaining about "Thiruman" facing upwards is great. Is it possible to clarify what is the explanation for vibhuthi going horizontally. Not sure if that was explained unless I missed it.

Sad situation to see children discussing about elders. Many families does this. They discuss bad things about daughter-in-law in front of children and make them against them. When they expect Anusha to not question her senior generation, isn't the same applicable for Kanakadhara?

ஏன்னா கனகா அந்த வீட்டு செல்ல பொண்ணு, அதுமட்டுமில்லாமல் அந்த வீட்டு பெரியவர்கள் சொல்வதை அப்படியே கேட்க கூடிய பொண்ணு( முக்கியமா பெரியவா பக்தை). எப்போதும் நாம் சொல்வதை கேட்டு நடப்பவர்களை, செல்லத்தை கண்டிக்க மனசுவருமா. இவர்கள் கவனம் எல்லாம் அனுஷாவை குறை சொல்வதில்லேயே இருப்பதால் கனகா செய்யும் தவறுகளை யாரும் கவனிக்கவில்லை. பெரிய வில்லன் வந்து விட்டால் சிறிய அடியாட்களுக்கு value இருக்காது. இதே இடத்தில் காமாட்சி அனுஷா போல நடந்திருந்தால் இப்படி புரணி பேசுவார்களா என்பது மில்லியன் டாலர் question.இதற்கு பெரியவா அறிவுரை ஏதும் இல்லையா..

This has nothing to do with Periva's parts in serial. I know mama includes things which can have some discussions. My humble thought was to make people think if this happens in their house to change for good. That's all. 🙏

Also, for us to treat it spiritually, the serial should not show Dil as bad, that's cliched. And we are giving our cliched response to it.

The unique feature of Hinduism is that Hinduism doesn't ask anyone to follow anything blindly, rather asking question is highly encouraged and required for spiritual progress. That is the reason, there is no concept of blasphemy in Hinduism. I like Anusha, she is playing the role of a devil's advocate. If I understand correctly what she is saying is that just doing Vishnu Sahasranamam alone is not going to cure any disease, that is blind faith, Getting proper treatment from a qualified doctor and doing Vishnusahasranamam for mental peace is fine and that should be the message and that should be encouraged. No one would agree with you if you appear for an examination without proper preparation and just doing the Vishnushasranamam and hoping that you would pass the exam. I have watched Sri.Dushyanth Sridhar's programs, this is what he said in one of his Upanyasams.

Namaskarams to the entire team for bringing a wonderful message to all of us. Since we are allowed to ask questions, I would like to be informed about the following. 1. It is said in the serial that atleast arghyam and Gayatri should be chanted every time. Can we get a detailed explanation on this? 2. In this episode, Sri Dushyant Sridhar explains significance of namam very aptly. We request a more suitable explanation for the vibhuti also.🙏🙏

@@srividhyavs3685 The absence of introducing Janani is a shortcoming. Plain and simple. It may be just a slip the director did not notice. Besides, the introduction of those in the forefront (Janani is in the interior) was not "formal" but incidental. Whatever it is, the director is very confused about how to take the program in an organized way.

I feel that when the introduction was started that Kolluthaththaa said his peran, peththi,kolluperan, kollupeththi everbody had come from US and started introducing one by one but didnot introduce Janani. Why .My assumption is that we have see next dialogue. DS says சந்திரசேகர், அனுஷா, சங்கரன் all have connection with Periyavaa.. So if Janani was introduced in this scene it will look somewhat odd as Janani name could not be connected with Periyavaa.( I feel her name also could have some direct connection with Periyavaa as this is only a imaginary family) So to keep the dialogue intact Janani's introduction was not shown( we have to assume she was somewhat introduced or might be in future episodes). It is similar to the scene in which 4 people doing சந்தியாவந்தனம்( பாலு , சதாசிவம், சந்திரு and சங்கரன்) where as Swaminathan was in the same house was not shown doing Sandhi with them. It is done for a touching scene (4 generations were doing) so we have to assume that Swami did it seperately ( how he will miss it as he is a vaidheegar).

Periyava's teachings alone can run to 500 episodes. Periyava's life history, mixed with the numerous experiences of thousands of devotees, can run to another 1000 episodes. Mixing all this with the family background and story of Balakrishna Sastrigal can take it even further. So theoretically there can be no end to this serial. However, due to practical limits, the serial can easily run to 500 episodes, provided there is enough funds and support. Periyava is called Apaara Karunaa Sindhu - the Ocean of Unbounded Mercy. Let us all today beseech His Mercy to grant our heart's desire - that this fabulous serial runs to atleast 500 episodes. Without Periyava, how can we wash the dirt of our sins and desires?

One thing all have forgotten. In the beginning, BC explained that to make the serial interesting, he is going to narrate from a family background. For the viewers only then, it wil be interesting. Please think honestly that in our house are we not having conversations like this? More over in all families we have these characters. Even I explain about Dushyant like this to my children and grand children. Those kids want to know about him. So it's mandate to tell everything about him. If it's not picturized like this, it will be a documentary. Again our comments will be that, many have told about periyava, what's new here. Dear friends please think.

As an person who have been outside India by the grace of God, I do agree with the family in several aspects. There's a massive influence of westernised thinking more in women than in men. Nan enda yedatla irundeno none of the household had panchangam. No Ekadashi/ Dwadashi/ Sankashti etc. When Anusha was called pseudo intellectual, it kind of isn't wrong because her aspect to see everything of Sanatana Dharma is pragmatic which though is a major part of our Dharma, it does go beyond the basic human intelligent capacity where faith, belief, trust plays a crucial role. The problem isn't questioning but the tone, tenor and the intention in which the question is asked. Sahasranamam padikalaina gunam agha maatala is not the problem but if it is spoken with an intent to question the efficacy of the solution, the foremost step should be Anusha trying the same experiment in order for her to draw conclusions/ have doubts. She must be equally credited for seamlessly naming all the Acharyals of Kanchi Matham. Surprised how the family believing in Mahaperiyava so much failed to remember the 5 names of Acharyals of the matham. It's important that the family must understand that non participation doesn't mean negligence but Anusha's personality is Ambivert introvert where she believes in self analysis of what she has learnt before entering the common ground of praying. It's a great effort taken in the right direction. However, I still feel the seers of both Kanchi and Sringeri matham write a book on dharma shastram in parlance to the current scene. I, though being an old school may nod without any questions but for the present generation a novel approach may be beneficial.

You call her whatever you want, but not in front of her kids. What was done was not wrong, esp by people who quoted Manu Smriti saying we respect ladies. She asked questions because we claim everything is scientific. Proof mattum irundha kaattalaame, enna kashtam. And illai na illai nu solradhula enna kashtam. Kelvi keka koodadhu na we encourage questions and debates nu sollama irukanum. Ipdiyum pesi apdiyum pesina something is wrong. Bhakthi, devotion a Anusha question e pannala, science nu solradha dhaa yen nu kekara. Badhil theriyala na we don't know, we have to research nu pointers kudutha it may be useful to explore and find the forgotten reasons.

@@ChannelMeenakshi to be fair she hasn't seen to be observing the same when she posed questions Ilya? Almost all episodes la she has cut in between her elders butting in with her POV. But as a I said, it's not about questioning but the intent. When she asks questions, she needs to practice it. Our munnorgal have practiced much before preaching. I don't think her intent was to know or understand but to have a scientific approach. And as you said adu entirely tappum illai. But oru shila vishayam science and logic kulla adakkam panni kata mudiyadu Ilya. Ongalku teriyum, Udupi krishnar modala verum chanadana kattaiya dan irunda, adu Madhvacharyal odu bhakti nala kannana maaridu, iduku scientific explanation keta or logical backing keta anga kashtam aidum. Hence, I wrote if she wills to have a scientific backing on the claims of the family, appo taane adu anubhavicchi katardu would help identifying and exploring forgotten reasons neengal shonna maadri. But to question alone isn't a fair practice.

My observation Anusha like people surely getting more accommodation in the minds of other ,that means that bunch of people surely do not do dharma to their living Elder or younger without any consideration they must sideline them so that Anusha like persons understand the importance of Samanthana dharma

What is sansthan Dharma? Educating or belittling? Our sansthan Dharma always supported questioning (prashnottar) and getting the right answers. Gurus always supported this system by giving proper explanations and lighting the gnana deepam. If we can't clear their doubts that is our ignorance. We donot know the answers so we can't clear the doubts. Don't blame the questioning person. Try to get the proper explanation. Help sansthan Dharma to flourish.

I have a request to Chanakya not to repeat the same scenes featuring Periyawa giving blessings, after every break. Instead show some scenes of Periyawa's retort when questioned about Jagad Guru

The dates in the Thai Velli are not for 2023 .It was 2015. Searching Google for"Thai Velli" ( like Janani) will give a link to Amrithavahini Google groups page which was created in 2015.

I like dushyant sridhar and his speeches. . But why he is also upset when Anusha asks why ladies are not allowed to recite Vedas? As such discussing in front of the kids is a wrong thing. I wonder why Mr. Chanakyan forgot that the kids should have American accent.! Suththam. They read English just like the Indian kids The director wants to convey something which many people donot know but his over enthusiasm The kids don't have American accent at all.

Explanation for Anusha is very stupid. That too in front of her children, saying she is a pseudo intellectual is highly ridiculous. Her children should ideally ask how can you say such things about our mother... Atleast the husband is supportive, for now.

Pseudo intellectual meaning was not understood by children I suppose. Now only Chandru is defending her. So children also may support her in future ( that is if the serial is not finished by that time)..By the way do they know the meaning of intellectual..

Indha madhiri pechu ellam keka vendaam nu dhaa many people run away from here and go abroad. How can we say they are wrong? People, esp elders, need to learn how to be respectful. Just because someone is younger doesn't mean they should be treated badly - this was the downfall of joint families. Elders can teach respect by showing it in real life. Anusha should have decided to put poonal in US and telecasted live for these folks to see, if they want.

I agree. Now days elders not pay heeds to youngest voice .so that is the reason for downfall of everything. Look at the others how they are evolving. What kind of mindset.

I am surprised how Anusha accepted the பூணூல் ceremony without asking questions about the reason ( the same way she questions other beliefs) which might not be valid for current condtion of social structure..

But since she is married for many years now and knows about her in laws family she would have prepared herself to be with them ( until the ceremony is over) for few days. If you analyse little deep , it looks odd why she questions now or as காமாட்சி said she had changed in between trips. ( She was orthodox DIL before and now changed due to the influence of western culture as per the oversmart Kanakadhara)..

I think the family may not be believing in self introduction. The family may be very "anda kaalam" where women of the household unless otherwise asked to are not expected to speak out of turn.

@@whobalobalo andha kaalathula women didn't introduce themselves nu yaru sonna? There are several occassions in Ramayana and Mahabharata where women talk on their own without any prompts. Thannoda per solli ivaroda wife nu sollikardhu epdi disrespect aagum? Expecting that women should keep quiet until the man says "talk" is irrational. And in this family, only Kanakadhara can talk whatever "as a youngster" nu aaramichi. Nyayama kelvi keta, Anusha ku complex, pseudo intellectual nu pattam katradhu ... Then how will she come again and feel like being with these people? Ipdi ellam panna vendiyadhu apram US ku poita, maarita, en payyana maathita, peran pethiya kanla kaatala nu korai vere solla vendiyadhu... They need to evolve really.

@@ChannelMeenakshi Nan Ramayanam, Bharatam shollalai (I should have been more clear though). I spoke about the last 100 or so years. Pre and post colonial era. Appo lam ipdi daane condition irundudu. I do agree with you in terms of the family needing to be a little flexible when Anusha questions, but her approach isn't always to understand the nitty gritties of our Sanatana Dharma but to doubt it (Sahasranamam case for example). Self analysis and experiment panniyutu result favourabla varalaina she can put forth that. But applause for she names all the Acharyals of the matham. Something even I learnt. May be Kanakadhara is speaking because remember the scene where she asked Anusha about the necklace and she kind of responded haughtily, adunala may be Kanakadhara thinks otherwise. Uppu shakkarai maadri situation, they feel Anusha is being over analytical than developing faith, belief and trust in our Sanatana Dharma whilst Anusha thinks it will be better to explain what is why in order for the generations to have a clearer concept of our Dharma. Faith VS logic odu battle. Yedu modala vekkanam ingerdu dan debate aindruku. On the other note : Pona derava nambalku nadula pechu vartai nadandudtu. @@ChannelMeenakshi I also don't understand why they looked at Anusha when she introduced herself. My guess is that when Kolluthaththa was introducing ( first he told பேரன் , பேத்தி, கொள்ளுபேரன், கொள்ளு பேத்தி எல்லாரும் வந்திருக்கா என்று சொன்னார்) his grandson சந்திரசேகர், I was also expecting nobody will talk and allow him to introduce everybody( Him introducing by saying the relation position as பேரன் , பேத்தி etc., was nice) which suited that occasion because these new people don't know DS. Then when Anusha introduced herself it looked odd ( but definitely not worthy of hard look ) and I am not talking in cultural or religious point of view that women should keep quit until they are permitted. Even if the children introduced themselves it might look odd as the head of the family already started introduction ceremony himself. I am speaking from their point of view. Regarding Kanakadhara character , I don't know why this character is in this serial. So far she hasnot done anything worthy except talking oversmart about elders ( mainly her maami Anusha) and joining with elders in critisizing . I could digest other elders back biting( புறணி பேசுவது) due to their experiences but not her ( முளைச்சு மூணு இலை விடலே).Funny thing is nobody is advicing her not to talk negetively about elders. Her idea of Anusha's behaviour is related to her life in USA is total nonsense as if in India people accept everything as it is and nobody is asking any questions.

You need to fixed the awkward and dialog delivery by all people. Stilted dialog delivery and predictable canned dialogs are totally unnatural

Many have reservations about dialogue delivery also. For example Anusha never addresses anybody by relation name. அப்பா or even uncle in modern trend( மாமனார்), அம்மா( மாமியார்), தாத்தா( கொள்ளு தாத்தா பாலு), அக்கா ( காமாட்சி,இவள் சந்திருவுக்கு அக்காவா ,தங்கையா?), அத்திம்பேர்(சுவாமிநாதன் depending on whether காமாட்சி is அக்கா or தங்கை). அதே போல கனகதாராவும் (பாட்டி என்று சில நேரம் கூப்பிடுகிறாள்). For example when Sadhasivam was reciting Vishnu Sahasranamam in front of sick Chandru, Anusha could have asked ( with கரிசனம்)" என்னப்பா, உடம்பு சரியில்லாம படுத்து இருப்பவரை இப்படி தொந்தரவு செய்யலாமா.. நீங்க பூஜை அறையில் ஸ்லோகம் சொல்லலாமேப்பா" என்று உரிமையுடன் சொல்லியிருக்கலாம்.( May be it was her character and blame it on USA)எல்லோரும் விறைப்பாக( stiff) வசனம் சொல்வது போல தோன்றுகிறது அடியேனுக்கு.( Like delivering a package). It might be due to the fact that all are new to acting.. தவறாக இருந்தால் மன்னிக்கவும்.

The presentation is a little childish . The elders are not comfortable when questioned. They may not have all the answers but they can show some consideration and get some good answers. Thats the problem in our culture. Youngsters are not allowed to raise a question. Generations together we got deviated from our meaningful culture. One generation followed it just like their elders, Next generation followed it without understanding The third generation questioned, to have meaningful following,the elders could not help them as they themselves doot know the answers. Ofcourse they only followed what they were told, which made them empty heads. For such people the questioning younger generation is rebellious. But without quenching their thirst for knowledge, how can they follow the rules? When we questioned,our mother used tell like this. "We just followed our elders without questioning. Yes. We donot know many answers. You are better educated than us. You guys find out the answers. But follow till you get them. Without finding the answers don't ridicule." I am proud of her even today. That's the way we should inspire the youngsters. Thats why I like Dushyant Sridhar also. He gives proper explanation for our scriptures and we need many more such people like him.

talking bad about parents in front of kids is not at all good

Chankya is very much confused. In the name of clarification (?) he is creating more confusion in the Q & A segment. Also it appears Chanakya is promoting himself and drawing this episode to greater lengths. Not at all satisfactory.
