PERIYAR TIGER TRAIL WILDLIFE ENCOUNTERS!! 🇮🇳
During my trip to Kerala, I wanted to make sure to soak in some of the lush nature. And what better way to do that than to go on a 2-day 1 night trek in the Periyar Tiger Reserve. In this reserve, you have different options to hike the Periyar Tiger Trail and camp in the reserve. In this video, I take you along on this 2 day experience and share some of our close wildlife encounters!

@@talesofodyssey Your are Still Brave Rachel ❤️, Literally a wild elephant name "Arrikobam" is making state headlines for weeks. And here you can't shoot or even tranquilize the elephant because of the court order. Nd considering these Rangers have sound guns make it more dangerous! But I hope it was great adrenaline rush experience for you...! Maybe one day i might visit. Thanks Rachel for a amazing vlog🙈.

Tigress, you have to come back for that 5 night tour, I'd love this journey and hope one day I can do it as well

The bird you heard should be Drongo. It is famous for imitating different calls. A very common bird here in Kerala and a beautiful one.

I loved the inclusion of back-up Ráchelle in this video 😃
Just took my breath away. Walking right through the thick forest with elephants all around must have been some experience. The elephants don’t like people around when they’re with their babies. In order to protect their little ones they can get aggressive. Have experienced a few such incidents while riding in the safari. Good job Rachel
Glad to see wildlife in natural surroundings still preserved due to India's conservation efforts. I hope these lands continue to be preserved and protected from developments. Thank you for sharing your adventures. Welcome back again.

@@talesofodyssey yes, they also did a safari tour. But when I did the hike with my friends, we hiked with a forest department guide (also a gunman). Kinda like you, saw a lot of wild elephants and poop droppings along the route. But also heard a tiger roar and saw some fresh pug marks so I guess we were close (add me on insta, I could share those pics). I don't live in India now, so not sure how it is there anymore.

Nagarahole Natonal Park in Kodagu District and Dandeli National Park in Uttara Kannada District of Karnataka State in India is Home for Tigers, Leopard, Black Panthers, Sloth Bear, Dhole Wild Dogs, Elephants, Gaur-Indian Bison, Salt Water Crocodiles, Sambhar Deers, Many Bird Species and Small Mammals. Bandipur NP is good but not the best in Karnataka.

Welcome india 🇮🇳🇮🇳
13:40 my heart melts for tiny babies....my fav animal ❤
The forest guard carry the gun only to scare the animal and never to shoot them. A sound of a shot in the air normally more than sufficient for the purpose. Plus, these guards patrol these reserve regularly and would generally be aware of any animal with any irregular behavioural that might lead to untoward incidents. Really loving your video, specially with the purpose of wildlife. These are the place that very few travel too. Even we Indian's are not aware of some, like the one in Delhi. Thanks for sharing your experience. Hope other adventure lovers would be inspired by your videos. There are few places with rare animals like the Wild Ass sanctuary in Gujarat, there is one for Ibex and Snow leopards in the Ladakh / Himachal region, another with some rare deer near or in the Loktak Lake in Manipur, even the vast bio diversity of the lake would fascinate you. There a few more, don't recollect as of right now other than the usual tigers and elephants. Pobitora near Guwahati in Assam has more density of the one horn Rhino than the Kaziranga. If wildlife other than the usual Tiger and Elephant interests you, then you need to come the North East. It's huge on the bio-diversity side.

This makes me remember our trekking we did in way back in 2007 with my college mates. Sadly we couldn't capture any video. We were accompanied by a tourist from UK, Mr. Thomas. Monsoon was just over. Our body was bathed in leeches. We had close encounter of Wild boar family, elephant, deers, and lion tailed monkeys. It was just osm. Now I want to revisit with my wife.
