Perimenopause & Menopause Q&A: 3 summer issues and symptoms

With the hayfever season in full swing and warmer days (hopefully) on the way, there are several issues and symptoms I get asked about every summer. So, I thought today I would answer a few of them to help you if you are currently experiencing them or to prepare you for when the warmer days may affect you during perimenopause and menopause.
In this video, I answer 3 questions:
1. Can menopause cause hayfever?
2. The warmer nights are making my night sweats worse, what can help?
3. Are hives a symptom of perimenopause and menopause?
Are there any of your symptoms that are worse during the summer months? Let me know in the comments.

Hi Eileen, I enjoy your tips and can relate to lots of the symptoms you describe. I am currently experiencing heat intolerance when out in the sun. It does get worse the hotter it gets. I'm 44 years old last periods was 6months ago in December. It's slowly stopping. Last year when I saw my gyne the labs showed I was post menopausal however I have not gone a year without a period. So far this 6m is the longest I've been without. I don't know if I should pray for my cycle to return or stay away. I find Vitamin C with B vitamins and thiamine supports the energy needed for the day. Magnesium has been a great help as well.

I was told the best time to take Vitamin D supplement is after your last meal of the day. So after dinner. It absorbes better apparently

I've been having night sweats again and I read a tip earlier about wearing socks in bed. Apparently making your feet warmer, opens up blood vessels, which helps to cool down the rest of the body. Im going to give it a try tonight 😊

@@AvogelCoUk it worked, I can't believe it!! I got 7 hours sleep as well, which is amazing for me, I usually wake up 2-3 times a night, having night sweats. I'll definitely be trying it again tonight.

Hi Nadia You would need to check the Patient Information Leaflet of these products or ask your pharmacist, we can't give specific advice on prescribed medications, sorry.

Hi Eileen do you have a video on how to raise progesterone naturally? My doctor tested my hormones recently and my estrogen is dropping but still a good amount but my progesterone is very low and I'm getting symptoms related to that. The doctor offered progesterone but I refused that as I'd prefer natural supplements. I already take Vitex and have for a long time is there anything else? Thank you 😊

Thank you. I'm 48 & for years my period got so heavy & almost like having contractions at times & then they just stopped for almost a year and came back here & there maybe every couple of months & having all the symptoms. My life has been turned upside down & no insurance & unable to afford going to the doctor or testing. I also have hashimotos so these symptoms are so very similar. When I was being treated it didn't help with any of the symptoms & I'm not able to have hrt. So I'm suffering daily & it's horrible. Thank you again.

@@lisacarle1686Oh your poor thing...I understand I've had heavy periods for years but I have endometriosis and fibroids too. I'm 47. Its a shame you can't get to the doctors..but it does sound like perimenopause. It can be tough at times can't it? Hopefully Eileen might be able to suggest some natural help for you. I also do yoga and love my exercise I find it helps. I'm finding coffee and some other foods taste different or bitter lately.. nothing is wrong medically but apparently peri and menopause can cause this..I just try to take things day by day and focus on the good things. Sending you hugs 😊

Hi Gregsgirl This is a really difficult one as there are very few supplements/herbs that can help raise progesterone, Agnus castus being the main OTC one. There are a couple of options such as acupuncture, which can often balance hormones successfully or you could see a Medical Herbalist. They can prescribe herbs that you can't get OTC and they may be able to formulate an individual treatment plan for you. You can find local practitioners in the UK here www.NIMH.org.uk Best Wishes Eileen
