I have had the honour to stand beside American and Israeli friends when these anthems were played in both the USA and in Israel. This performance brings tears to my eyes.

HaTikva never fails to bring tears to my eyes. Cantor Schwartz is blessed with a marvelous voice.

Interesting contrast between the two national anthems. The US anthem is glorious and bombastic; the Israeli anthem is filled with beauty and pathos.

I am European and secular, so neither God nor any religion hold any importance to me. But this rendition of „the Hope“ is so brilliant, it is exactly the support our brethren in Jerusalem need! Thank you!

@@shawnmichaelduncan5951 are you serious? Soviets did do quite a lot of the fighting. Across almost 10000 km they advanced. USA did help, yes, but it was also up to the brits to actually grant independence to Israel.

Kshitij S when I hear our great national anthem it reminds me of a great sacrificed America has indured helping many nations to achieve PEACE. Jewish people had suffered during the 2 world war. I don't have to remind how they suffered.

@romain reuter I was born and brought up in Birmingham UK, and I am a British citizen first and Indian heritage is after my British pride, but the stories of war and how Russia supported my ancestral home, I developed a bond towards Russia, being British, I love Australia more but when I switch to indian, Russia rules :) Anyways rule Britannia cool Britannia>>> than any country in the planet, I am sure we'll get this Johnson out next election, he's ruining the UK

Wow, he hit all the notes even. That's The Star Spangled Banner, naturally. Both beautiful anthems, both in their own way are about fortitude. The virtue of persistence in some good purpose, over time & in the face great difficulty. H'Tikva about a people clinging to the memory & love of their ancient home & land & how it has preserved the nation even w/o a state. The Star Spangled Banner about how the soldiers of that fort who stood their ground & preserved their nation & state against a long terrible night bombardment. They are about looking to some higher purpose to sustain your faith, symbolized in a land & in a flag.

There are many discussions about the origin of the israeli anthem. This is the truth. The words to this anthem were written in 1886 by N. Herz Imber, an English poet originaly from Bohemia (now Czech republic) and the melody was written by Samuel Cohen, an immigrant from Moldavia who actually based the melody on a musical theme found in "Vltava" a master piece composed by the world known Czech composer Bedrich Smetana.
