A personal friend of Dave's, Brad, brings up this question concerning lobes that Dave made a video on recently? His main question is are there advantages of "Lensing" or multiple lobes?

Dave, Thanks for your excellent video, and your giveaway prize this month. Providing annotated EZNEC views really helps explain your presentations.

On HF its pretty hard to get free space performance out of a dipole but, a three or four element yagi at a wavelength or more does compress the radiation and reduce ground effect (and noise). That's why its the standard for DXers.

This set of vids about lobe bifurcation has been very helpful. I had the peak of my Tune-a-Tenna Inverted V up at 50’, which was darn good for 75m NVIS work, and maybe pretty good on 40m. But 20m DX was rough going. After watching your previous vid on this subject, I lowered the peak to about 35’, & now am having much better DX luck on 20m. Of course when I reel the elements in to 17m, 15m, 10m, or 6m, I’m too high again. And I’m a little too low on 40m. I guess we can’t have it all… at least not at the same time. I suppose the next time I get word of a hot 6m day of Sporadic E, I can run out, lower it, tighten up the guy lines, & stay on 6m until the fracas is over.

@@RESISTAGE Yeah, I guess that's the thing, huh? We had one this summer that lasted something crazy like half a day. Apparently that's... I dunno... kinda rare?

I would like to see how a delta loop or a loop would look modeled like that and how the feed point changes it. I may have to get that software.

My temporary 75 meter center fed dipole setup, 16 feet off the ground, has been a good hammer on the local states nets, even made Missouri! Even if you can't get them high, their short range performance is at least something, so there is value in the low hanging NVIS dipole. Also, what is the best advised height for my new Sirio 10/11 meter Yagi I have on order?

How do they turn a yagi mounted mid tower?

There are towers where the whole structure rotates. The motor is at the bottom and the tower is supported by rings which are guyed and presume have some sort of bearing arrangement which allows the tower to rotate within them. I've only ever seen a photo of one of these towers and would guess they cost a fortune ;)
