In my last playthrough I had a ghoul that kept respawning but non-hostile. He'd just stand there outside around back and twitch about. I gave him a little doghouse, a light, and a beach umbrella, and named him Terrence.

That's how I rebuilt Sanctuary. Made an entire house, then moved it inside one of the existing buildings. More accurately, built the new interior, tried moving it, cussed at whoever came up with this system, found the bottle/dead radroach/whatever that was blocking me, tried again (and again with renewed cussing), and eventually got it to fit once I figured out I was trying to put it in the wrong existing building.

Another great building tip you can do: make your HUD color fully black. the reason you do that is because for whatever reason, the colored outline matches your HUD color so by making it black, you remove any colored outline and it makes lining things up waaay easier. The red outline doesn't get removed so that helps too

You can literally build all the walls and floors outside of the manor. Using the pillar glitch and start with a floor at the door near the motorcycle. It's hard to explain but you can build the whole thing outside the home and keep checking back using the pillar glitch as you go and repositioning the fixed parts then take it out add a wall ext. and just build the whole thing separate. Wish I had a channel to show it. :) Love the fire glitch. I've learned a ton from you!

This video just got recommended to me, and that is such a weird coincidence because in my new playthrough, I just discovered Croup Manor this morning. The beach resort environment intrigued me to settle here, but as I was walking through it, I was thinking to myself, why would I want to use this dump as a settlement? There are so many missing walls that are going to be such a PITA to patch up. Do I really want the headache that comes with this property? But now I have a "No Mods Shop Class tutorial" to make it a settlement I'd like. Gotta love fate.

Another great vid Paul. Your creativity is showing no signs of fading, a really unique solution here. As others have said, it is possible to do the whole building in one go, floors, interior walls and all but the door way you made is super clean, whereas doing the entire building in on does leave a janky edge on the right of that doorway. Maybe a combo of the the two methods would be perfection. PLK 👍

  • @HermanBogaers

All outside walls most walls indoors and al floors and roofs can be fixed in the same way. You need to start at the bottom and build the next floor on top. Pretty hard way of building and I am loving it. You can have Group Manor always almost perfect lol. So my old time teacher, the post trick. The barn post is even better and easier to use. Just one of the four sides of the pole will get you closer to the object, works so with all pillars and posts. So you need to figure out which side that is first. Pick up the post to high or to low or to close by, the trick won't work or your view will be hindered, so place and angle are indeed the worst part to figure out. Save and quick saves are both mandatory. a save for each floor maybe even two hard saves for each floor.

Nice to see you back on building again. My last Crucks... Croup Manor build is quite old by now on my part-time Raider Boss. I made extensive use of the white and red checkered floor from the creation club because it's such a damn game changer. I also build a glass walled garden on the damaged roof but I prefer to stay in the boundaries of this white rim. Most of the times I start there and build down from it until I have a clean level pass into the existing structure. Which means I have to stick in the wall extra but I don't mind that if the roofs better align with the existing walls. But I'm also that crazy to re glas the windows...

That was beautiful! I glitched in wall and ceiling repairs but hit build limits before getting too fancy. I always have to build decent defenses which uses up a fair chunk of my build limits. I do try to attend all fights when I can… so that kinda helps me to justify the drain on limits. Kinda. If I rebuild Croup a third time, I’ll see if I can build that observatory… and maybe go one square wider around back, side and front if I can. Thanks for keepin’ on keepin’ on! ;-)

Yeah, I wanted to build one square back too but I couldn't find any decent vertical half-walls. If you come up with a solution, let me know.

Well playing on ps 5 I have no console commands. Those aren't even needed. When you build a recruitment radio beacon to get more settlers go 4 to the right and build the vault-tec population management system. That will let you find your companions if you forgot where you sent them. It will track companions that you have unlocked and don't know where to find them. It will allow you to recall a provisioner and assign them to an in settlement job. I recommend scavenger station.

That was awesome. I did a vault tec build with a restaurant in that space that worked out well years ago. I'm adding vids on my channel where I recreated the carvana building with better ways to move cars. Great ways to hide wires as well. Especially with street lights. I don't want to use the wifi glitch. That can easily break your game

9:56 "Floor - upper" means it's a Floor/Ceiling combo. It's meant to be the floor of the second story so you don't have to have a ceiling part underneath the floor, which is why it's "double stuffed"

Right, of course. It's just funny because in theory, Floor Upper = Ceiling and Ceiling Lower = Floor 😂

Genius I didn't know about the fire glitch. I have been using farm plots to plant water pumps inside buildings and poke the faucet through the wall over a tub for indoor plumbing. I only have vanilla gameplay.

Yeah, the garden plots work a little like the campfire but usually use the campfire because it's more compact and can fit into tight spaces.

Another thought on what to do with the parapets, especially if you do have them off center where one side has space for plants, but the other doesn't. On the "short" side, you could rug glitch in some counters/bars/etc to cover that strip and also make it look like something that belongs in the room. After all, you need storage for your tea service and a counter for your evening hors d'oeuvres in the solarium before moving to the dining room for the dinner party. 😉

I feel like you try not to use creation club addons for your builds, especially since not everyone has access to them, but for me I found that the Slocumb's Joe rooftops actually ended up being another really simple fix for this. They can be aligned to fit perfectly within the parapets, and have the added benefit of being a rooftop there and a ceiling tile on the under side for the room below. From there I went with a similar idea of the rooftop garden by just adding some railings from the cement section to the boundaries of the roof to prevent falling off and added some seating and potted plaints. Also for those wanting to recreate the original floorplan, the cement walls work pretty well for the interior and most closely match the existing walls.... though the floorplan of the house is a bit odd with random areas that don't seem to serve any purpose

"you try not to use creation club addons for your builds, especially since not everyone has access to them" ---That's mostly the reason, correct. But I also don't like encouraging gaming companies with microtransactions. I don't mind buying official DLCs. But the atomic shop in Fallout 76 really worked me over for the short time that I was playing it. $15 for a forks and napkins package was the final straw for me, lol.

I think it would look really nice if you went another 1/2 floor farther out, so you encapsulate the entire balcony thing, and the white edge bit doesn't end up clipping through the end. You can do planters all around, then. Or a wraparound bench, perhaps. If the angled roof won't work that way, you could just do a flat roof.

  • @wolfen210959

Unfortunately, that wouldn't work, as there is no half window or half roof. There are concrete half walls, and obviously half floors, so it may be possible, but it would not look seamless.

I have tried my best to make this settlement work but humans don’t know how to sleep in a bed, so it’s just bots only. But before I got Automatron, I tried to seal up holes in the floors and walls and ceilings. But after watching this I’m going to give it another try with humans living at Croup Manor.

Don't forget that you can assign settlers to specific beds. That's helpful so they don't use your favorite spot.
