Somewhat the same for cats! They don't get as affectionate, but they calm down and get cautious when play goes too far. If you accidentally step on your cats tail or paw giving them a calm reassurance is all the comfort they need :) Cats and dogs have pretty high emotional intelligence!

For real though. It was one of the main reasons I always saw his playthrough of games like Undertale and Night in the Woods. His range is Incredible and so is his timing, delivery and of course he's funny as well.

The other day my dog and I were working on changing sides while walking for his training and he missteped and I didn’t notice so I accidentally stepped on him and I just sat on the floor crying while hugging him and he just sat there and wagged his tail happily and I still feel bad.
