"Perfect Weapons"

Mr. Jeff Speakman was approached by a major talent agency in Los Angeles with the concept of developing a reality show based upon his martial arts and his teachings of Kenpo 5.0. Lacking a clear direction from the talent agency, it has not come to fruition yet.
We put together this sizzle reel with Mr. Speakman as a template for how we see the development and legacy that his training has instilled in all of his students globally.
This show needs to become a reality! What do you think?
Produced by Dana Mennie, Julie Snider, and Darius Siwek. Copyright 2015 Moon Street Films.

Very best wishes for this show coming to fruition. If there's one thing the world needs, it's more positive role models visible on a global scale, ie through the various avenues of media. The TV channels of the world are full of too much of the other; Shows that promote and exploit egoic personalities and the worst sides of the human nature. Why? Because there's no talent or effort required in aiming for the bottom of the barrel, hence the proliferation. What TV companies need to give us are shows that GENUINELY promote self-discipline, self-development, and all the positive aspects of our species. Shows that INSPIRE us, rather than are based on fear or ego. Best of luck Jeff!

As much as I love The Perfect Weapon like everyone else but when Jeff speaks about Ed Parker it's like he's putting him (mr Parker) on some kinda pedestal & he's saying that Ed is the father of 'street fighting' & years ahead of everyone else 🤔 I think that accolade belongs to someone else...... Bruce Lee. No one has ever come close to achieving what Bruce accomplished his short life on 🌏 & I doubt no-one ever will 🤔 well not in my lifetime. R. I. P Bruce & Brandon 😢

I was a purple belt. My teacher was so ahead of his class it was like learning from Mr Parker himself. I came to a new school and as an old school purple belt, I was ahead of the brown and few black belts in the class as far as form and agression. Some of the things I know they said I wasn't supposed to know until brown and black 🤷‍♂️. My teacher was a bad ass.

@@notyou8716 Other than having a loaded gun, what IS effective in life or death situations? If someone has a knife, or if they're more than one, you're bound to get cut at least once, and if someone has a gun, there's a high chance you might get shot. I try to judge martial arts based on two people or multiple people engaging in hand to hand combat, no weapons. From everything I've seen regarding Kenpo, it appears to be one of the best types of martial arts to train in for self defense.

I love these guys who comment about Kenpo who obviously know little about it. As for it being unproven, that would be an incorrect assumption. I've seen it, and I've used it against multiple opponents. If one is proficient in the art, it will work. As for Mr. Djohan's comments about basic skills being weak, that lies with the individual practitioner. I studied at the Pasadena school as well as Kenpo schools in Sacramento and all of the people I worked out with that were brown or black belts had strong skills. I would say to the system's and Mr. Parkers detractors that while Kenpo may not look as flashy as Taekwondo or some other systems, it "is" effective. We were taught how to kick properly, not to just the groin, or knees or gut, but to higher targets as well. We were also taught that the head is an easy target to miss when kicking and it is more practical to use your kicks in a more sure fire way of connecting. If I break your knee the fight is over. If I go for your head and miss, I may lose quickly. I would say that if you don't think it works, pick a fight with someone who is proficient at Kenpo and you'll understand. Just remember, there are many boxers, but few champions, not everyone from every system can be that good, if they were, anyone could step into a ring with Floyd Merriweather do well, but we know that isn't real.

Brett Shaul What? I asked BSD what Kenpo Specific techniques has he used. Even in Speakman's 5.0 system, I've been to the school in Pasadena on Washington blvd, next to the gas station. They didn't use one techniques from the system when they sparred. None of the flashy strikes or anything. It looked more like Kickboxing. If you say you used Kenpo then it needs to be actual Kenpo techniques.

If some one is good in ANY martial art it should give that person a better chance of surviving and/or prevailing. No traditional martial art is better than another. No matter what some claim when they say one is more "practical" than another. As for the movie Perfect Weapon...I enjoyed it. Just wished they had aimed for realism vs entertainment. A fight should be finished in a few movies. No need to unload using a "full kata". :) I would have preferred to see a Jason Bourne or Daniel Craig Bond film style choreography. In the Korean gym scene...I would have loved to have seen the 3 guys do TKD. Korean martial artists rarely are involved in "kickboxing" unless they're MMA people. Muay Thai. Boxers. Etc. If they could have combined Best Of the Best (TKD film) with American Kenpo. Have Jeff's character train before confronting bad guys. All we saw him do was a kata in the beginning. :) And there should have been a relationship with Jennifer. :) Any how...will pickup the bluray when it's cheaper. It's got a "cult price (expensive)".

The best kempo practitioners use boxing and skills from other arts. They waste their time with the other stuff, unfortunately. I’m speaking from experience here. I remember a top instructor in my area. Eighth dan. Couldn’t fight his way out of a paper bag. One of his top black belts cross trained in my school. She was a third Dan and nationally ranked forms competitor. The moves were very cool looking with interesting names, she was very fast with them. And, it was totally ineffective bs.

You don’t get something for nothing. A Martial Art academy isn’t a charity, they have bills to pay like everyone else.

unproven combat system. In ring or streets. Mr Parker's recorded street facts are only myths. The fighting logics are weird and delusional. Basic skills or kihon is very weak, very few of kenpo practitioners can launch a proper kick. No other martial arts kick in the nuts so much like kenpo. I believe that there are a lot of great man inside american kenpo, including mr Speakman but they are trapped in this crappy system.

Hello, Rizal. I see you have the habit of going on Kenpo videos and talking trash to them, have you ever done Kenpo? If you're not a black belt in Kenpo, it means you don't fully understand it. So please learn how to Kenpo before you talk down to it.

Rizal must have some training in kenpo, otherwise he couldn't have known about the prevalence of the crotch shot which is something I've noticed myself! basically a system centered around a swift kick to the nuts the cross over and cover out :) but hey Rizal, land that front snap kick and sure sounds effective to me!!

It's never the style it's always the practitioner. And a kick in the nuts is a kick in the nuts. The goal of a violent altercation if unavoidable is to survive. Winning is for tournaments.

No no no , There are many more others far more advanced than Mr.Parker man , but those Grand Master do not want to be known , and they remain in their private lives , so study first before saying Mr.Parker was a genius or other nice words , his stolen combat system from Mater Chow is known to everybody and Kempo is a good fighting system but it is not originated from Ed Parker , it is originated from Huang Gar modified Kung Fu ...Kempo practitioners are Physically unfit [ fat and slow ] ,no matter how good they can perform in executing their techniques .

+Walter Herro Why is it in the Martial Arts world that there is always a complete inbred Moron like yourself who thinks that he knows what he is talking about? Go back to your t.v. set and your bag of Chitos and leave the real stuff to people who have the knowledge about what they are discussing......

Every system "steals" from other systems. TDS, BJJ, you name it, everything started somewhere and someone "stole" techniques and modified them and created new systems. That is why there are "soft" and "hard" systems along with "free style" systems. I wonder....have you ever trained?

There are much better Kenpoist than Jeff. He is famous more for his movies than his moves. Larry Tatum Paul Dye, Frank Trejo all are head and shoulders above Jeff. He banks off his movie fame doing seminars and rank testing that cost you big $ to attend just to have yourself associated with him.
