Seeing things like Human Remains reminds me how arbitrary things like the BAFTAs and Oscars are. This is acting of such a high calibre you don't think even for a second this is Rob Brydon and Julia Davis. These characters are so real, and nuanced. Incredible.

The wigs are also transformative
this is my favourite comedy of all time. absolutely gut-wrenching and hilarious. makes me feel very very strange...
This stuff is genious. I watch it again and again and again.
You must see them practicing their wedding dance: 'Bump and Grind' - hysterical. Funny how a pair of bad lenses can turn Julia Davis from a vamp into...well, Spindalero!!
This is so well observed it's frightening.
"I like yoghurt ... d'ya wished youd married er?"
Hilarious fantastic portrayal of the different character types spot on
Oh, I loved this! First intro to Julia - she is just SOOO funny! She wrote 'Nighty Night' - how dark was that?! LOL Ya know what, we've probably all seen plebs like these two: got these characters down to a T!! 'Bump and Grind' LMAO!
If you dont own this on dvd your a total toby jug. One of most well observed and played one series wonders every made.
British romance at its best
Julia Davis is class in "Jam" as well. Very dark indeed.
genius,bring on series 2
Yeah, goes nicely with Steve's enthusiastic wrestling with his buddy...
Spindelero... Fair play
Brilliant from Brydon
Thanks 'cheeseburgerphone' - I see now that this is another instance of Steve's (Rob Brydon's) warm and sensitive treatment of his slack-jawed beloved.
One of the most accurately observed and perfectly executed British comedies ever. The pair of them are talented and that they got together is amazing, if only for this episode alone. Spindelero! What an amazing derogatory working-class pet name! This show is deservedly in my notoriously swanky, snobbish even, Pantheon of British Comedy. Love it!

VICTORGIRAFFE well, since you wrote that comment we have of course had Gavin and Stacey......brill comedy pair.
I absolutely loved 'Human Remains' - one of the all-time great series. Brilliant script with its humour and commentary on human nature, and sublime acting from the two leads. However, I wonder if anyone could tell me if the pet name 'Spindelero' means anything other than a funny-sounding idiosyncratic pet name? I'm not from the UK if that helps explain my ignorance!
