Perfect Man Bun Styles For Exercising

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hey guys and welcome back for another hair video.
Today I’m just going to be running you through a few really handy man bun styles hacks I use on my long hair for when I’m either at the gym or doing exercise.
Here's what I use to make my Bungee cords:
Hair ties for sports: amzn.to/2LTbO5u
Bobby pins: amzn.to/3bTGPRh
Long hair can be a little annoying to work with whilst being active so I hope you get some value from this video and walk away with something you can implement for yourself.
And as always, if you enjoy what you see today please make sure you give this video a big thumbs up because you know it really helps me reach more people on KZread and don’t forget to hit the notifications button so you don’t miss any of my future posts.
In terms of what you’ll need to achieve all the styles and techniques mentioned in this video,
All you’ll need is 2 hair ties and 2 bobby pins at minimum or 4 at maximum.
Now, let’s get into these long hairstyles for exercising.
The first technique/style is the Agility Man Bun.
This style and technique is great for sports activities like bootcamp, playing soccer, basketball or any activity that requires short, sharp and fast movements.
Although this man bun looks just like a normal man bun, the construction of it is way more intricate than you think.
To achieve this style you’ll first want to grab 1 of your hair ties and just secure your hair into a bun as you normally would.
Then once you’re happy with the placement, the next thing you’re going to want to do is grab your second hair tie and attach 2 bobby pins to it making sure they are directly opposite each other. Congratulations you just made your first bungee cord.
From there, you’ll want to insert 1 of your bobby pins into the base of your bun at the top and then wrap the attached hair tie around your bun until you feel the bun tighten.
One the elastic becomes difficult to stretch any further, you then just wanna secure it in using the other bobby pin that you placed on the hair tie previous.
This technique is normally used by professional hairstylists to ensure their clients hair is really secure and move an inch for a really long period of time.
The reason it’s so effective as well is because it customises the length and tightness of the elastic to your own specific hair. So it doesn’t matter what thickness or density you have, you can always have an elastic that fits your hair perfectly.
It’s one of the best things I’ve learnt at hairstylist school and it works really well for sport and movement trust me.
To finish this hairstyle up, you may have stray dangly bits hanging out of the bun everywhere which is normal, but to get rid of those, I just coil them around the bun and then use one or two more bobby pins to secure them in place and shablam. I’m done.
So this technique is super sturdy and if you play sports or love bootcamp, you’re going to thank me later for this one haha.
Now let’s move onto the next style & technique.
The next style and technique is the Lifting Man Bun. This one is actually super simple. You only need one hair tie for this and maybe some bobby pins if you light to neaten the style up.
But the trick to this style is in the high placement. When you are lifting at the gym or doing any exercise that requires you to lay your head flat on a surface, the last thing you want is a big bulbous clump of hair sitting at the back of your head.
It’s uncomfortable and if your head isn’t in the right position you can even cause damage to your neck so don’t wear your bun at the back. Wear it nice and high so it doesn’t get in the way.
To achieve this style all you need to do is group your hair as high as you can on your head before securing it with 1 hair elastic.
I like to wrap mine around a few times just to make sure it’s secure enough and the if I’ve got wispy bit I just shove a couple of bobby pins in to neaten it up a bit.
Just make sure that before you start working out you’re able to lay your head flat and you’ll be good.
The third man bun stun hack is for running and unfortunately, KZread won't let me make my description any longer than this so to see the run bun style and construction, you'll need to watch the video haha.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your week and I’ll see you next Monday!
Goodbye!

You can't beat a super low bun for the gym. High pony can look quite femme on some guys (if you like that look then no worries) and the straight back pony can give you neck cripple for when you need to push back on to your head or neck for chest press as example. Pony in a hat if you are doing a pull or cardio day! My two cents

High bun suits perfectly to yoga practice but I am obsessed about alopecia tension and it is painful. I reached your hair lenght and I realize that, hell, hair are heavy. XD I felt in use that the lower bun was more pragmatic to lie on m'y back and running without feeling the balance or collapse of the hairstyle.

I feel like my hair at the top of my head is too flat when I wear any kind of bun. It makes my face look much shorter when I tie my hair, and I definitely don’t like that .-. Is there any way I can make it look a little less flat at the top?

You Can loose it a bit. What i like to do is to look like some short hairdstyle : i make a side split and I gather the hair back without tiying it too much. Then you can had some volume to the top, you just need to pull gently above the strands of your forehead. If you use a spray you can fix even better.

Hi Thomas. I was wondering whether u or one of the community could give me some advice. I have been growing my hair for two years now it it’s very long. Majority of the hair especially on top is great quality, however the hair that comes from behind my ears has poor quality which seems to be getting worse. I find this quite annoying as I like half up half down, but the longer parts which come from behind my ears look really disgusting when I do this (normally it’s hidden in a man bun). I am really unsure what the best thing is to do. I am tempted to cut 2-3 inches off once quarantine has lifted as I have not had a haircut since March, but not sure if there is an easier fix. Thanks
