    The simplest of ideas can sometimes be the best ... as for showing stuff others have done, you gave credit where credit is due, you have also spread this particular idea to an even bigger audience ... brilliant in all respects 👍

    Clever! You could even drill some oversize holes in the top edge of the pipe, so a woodscrew could pass right through. Then you could screw through the plastic into the timber for a stronger fixing 😀

    Good idea Tomasz, thumbs up for stating you saw it elsewhere. I got a tip a while ago Re, glue ups and that was to alternate the clamps (one above, one below) this was to prevent potential warping.

    I'd not seen this concept before. At first I thought it was going to be some sort if Caul system (to keep the boards from sliding up or down when clamping).

    With all due respect, but if you have these clamps that have already/form a flat surface why should you use additional hardware? If somebody doesn't have descent board clamps and needs to make flat board than the idea might come as handy one. It is my opinion, of course.

  • @CasualDIY

    @CasualDIY

    What I find with them is that quite often I waste time on aligning the boards on them. As I move one clamp or try to push the jaws onto the wood then the boards move and go out of alignment etc. Thus way I just got better access for the bottom so adding extra clamps from the bottom is also not a problem.with these platforms. That's just my findings and experience. For me this way (with these platforms) seems much better, quicker and easier. But each to their own I guess.

  • @rossen_nikov

    @@CasualDIY Just want to add that if I have to make a longer board, I consider extra clamps from the beginning so no need of adding clams from the bottom. I agree that small movement of any clamp causes (could cause) realignment, but I think, in this particular case, if you do not fix the wood strips to the tubes, you will experience the same problem once you touch the strips with the clams. Anyway, if somebody finds this useful it is a good reason to be pointed out. Respect!

    I have a set of these I made years ago, and they work fine for panels and cutting boards, but what I use most of the time these days is this clamping platform for the woodworking companions channel; kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y6met6huo86pqqw.html I made is lat year and I love it. A bit more of a storage issue than the jay bates model but has some very significant advantages.
