Not trying to be negative but most of us just ain't got thousands of $$$ to play with. Actually I think an Amish guy with a team of horses gets a way better return in his investment. It is fun to have all the toys. We always did it as cheap as possible and had great results.

    That would work well for covering rows of potatoes when planting by hand also. We made a similar attachment out of an old 2 row corn cultivator years ago, works great. When I was growing up my dad would buy 1500 lb or so of seed potatoes and we would plant all by hand and cover this way every year.

    I know it wouldn't be ideal but will the ventrac pull a small disc harrow? I understand that it would not be difficult to keep a straight line but I would like to use it primarily for cutting grass, brush and some other specialty work, but if I could use it for some very small disc harrow work that would be great. Looking to retire in the next 3 years and it would be nice to have one piece of equipment to cover my needs and wants😊. I really like your videos keep up the great work.

    What no GPS guidence???????? For years farmers bedded their cotton and peanut ground in the spring. Does primarily two things. Helps the soil warm up and retains moisture in the bed. I have bedded thousands of acres over the years. I use to run a 12 row KMC subsoil bedder being pulled by a 450 hp Deere 8960. It breaks in the middle too and took a little getting used to. Instead of one crooked row you had 12 if you made a bobble! Can't imagine one row at a time. Now not much bedding goes on it is mostly strip till with a much smaller bed now. Principle is the same. Warmth and moisture conservation. How you going to keep the deer out? Sorry about the calf. I now it sounds harsh but it's part of raising livestock. They don't always make it. Little tip on the bedding disc setup. Place one disc slightly (bout 6 inches) in front of the other and it forms a more uniform bed. You can also put a coulter on it to help keep the plow straight. Hope this helps.

    What went wrong and how to fix it. First, Your Angus cow, should have been, at the least, looked at to determine if she was in trouble. Then she should have been penned somewhere and the vet called. The vet could have turned the calf and assisted in it's birth. Animal husbandry is a big responsibility. You lost calf needlessly.

  • @StoneyRidgeFarmer

    @StoneyRidgeFarmer

    First of all...why are you scolding me in a video that has nothing to do with the calving problem? Second of all....there was no way to determine she was in trouble...I watched the calf hit the ground after 20 mins of stage 2 labor....DEAD! So if you need someone to blame...blame mother nature...she's a cull cow...bought from the sale barn..put with another calf that wasn't even hers...that's why we don't have any calving facilities....plus...I don't want a cow in my herd that is a problem cow...she's going in the freezer this fall after a summer of fattening up. Remember you only know what I show you...the rest is all in your head....this aint Fox and it aint CNN....I'll run my farm the way I see fit...you run yours the same. This is real farming and ranching...and every animal isn't successful at birthing....she was a cull from another herd sold at the sale barn...unfortunate but a fact. Mind your tone with me as I share my life with you on this farm please. Remember I'm medically trained and I'm not an inexperienced moron

    Most farmers, not this bonehead, stopped plowing because it makes no sense to mix your fertile top-soil with the junk underneath it. Also, plants don't need soft soil to grow. If that were true there would be no weeds or trees. Poke a hole in the ground and put in a seed. A single blade of grass can lift a sidewalk over time.
