PERFECT FRENCH DAYS: FANTASTIC FLORALS AT THE CHATEAU DE CHAUMONT!!!
In this new series of perfect day trips from the Chateau de Lalande, I jump in the car and go on an awfully big adventure with Marie, Nati and Philip. We go to the magnificent Chateau de Chaumont sur Loire, which was unusually once owned by both Queen Catherine de Medici and her husband's mistress, Diana de Poitiers! They are hosting a stunning exhibition of Floral Art and Marie asked us all to go along with her, on what turned out to be a perfect French day with friends...
Our beautiful scarves are from www.salisa.co.uk

All from different countries having the time of their lives in France. Exactly how the world should work. What fun to watch!
That is the symbol of The Order Of The Porcupine which was established in the 1300s. So that is one old castle!

The chickens have bustles under their dresses.
You need to find some amazing lighting for outside the Chateau.
If you ever do Lalande tshirts they should read, "I love a dramatic chicken."
You need to light up that beautiful fountain at night!!!
That was lovely. Thank you. PS. The Library display must be poetry books.....waxing lyrical!😜
You should get some outdoor lighting for your courtyard so you dont have to come home in the pitch dark

I LOVED every moment of this video!!!! It was almost... almost as good as though I was there with you on this wonderful day and tour!! Thank you so much for taking us with you!
I was breathless watching the footage from Catherine De' Medici's room. The bold use of purple and blue and deep pinks suited the history and grace of the room. I couldn't possibly go to a chateau floral exhibition with friends; I would be much like Marie, savoring every small detail in every room to the point where my party abandons me as a lost cause. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for that amazing trip -- you took us all along to see a true fairytale castle we would never see on our own -- take us along , please .... you enrich our lives with your wonderful friendship ❤
What a fantastic day out! I actually feel like I got to go too. As I recall, having read something recently about the Princess, she was just 16 or 17 when she decided that she must have the chateau and purchased it herself. I am sure she would be so thrilled to see her beloved home being used in the manner that it is these days. Thanks for taking us all along!
Those adorable chickens look like bunnies from behind!!! Thank you for sharing these lovely gardens with us :)
Have to say the Floral show was amazing, buts let’s be real - they could have stuck daisy’s in glass jars in any of those rooms and it would have looked unbelievable. A true royal castle! 👍🌸🥂🇨🇦

This was an absolutely stellar episode- so very inspirational; a feast for the eyes. The large leaved trees when you first entered the grounds are magnolia trees. They have large fragrant flowers in the spring. They would do well at LaLande. Thank you for this wonderful chapter. What a fun day!
Lalande needs outdoor lighting to brighten the outside at night as well - I think it's just as beautiful as any chateau.
High quality vlog. Thanks so much Stephanie.
Just exquisite. It really was a fairy tale castle, and with the addition of the floral art, magnifique!!!
I watched this very late at night, and so as not to disturb sleeping people in the house , I turned down the sound to very low and put on the captions. I highly recommend this. It will add to your enjoyment. So hilarious! The Princess in the portrait was described as "a rich ass". Marie was called, Marley, Maddie, Maggie. Phillip was "fill up guy". The mistakes are a hoot. One place name became "peasants ass". 😁 Did I really read "dramatic chicken" or was that the crazy subtitles? 😂

🤔It is as simple as Selmar is busy or off on some weekend trip with Diesal. 😆It is absolutely ridiculous to suggest he's not appearing in vlogs bcos his popularity over-powers or over-shadows anyone. No one is that shallow on this channel. If anything, Stephanie knows his popularity helps increase viewership.
It was great to see Marie out with the beautiful flowers, she's such an artist and you could see the happiness all day on her face.

What beautiful fun! But really, if France actually has a Don’t Stop Me Now stop sign, then I must learn French right away and leave Minnesota. ❤️ (My first grade teacher told me 62 years ago that pink and red NEVER went together. I was heartbroken because I thought they were so beautiful. They continue to give me great pleasure.) 💕❣️

I know right - that stop sign! All I could think of is - if I tell the kids at school, one of them will paint our one stop sign that we have in town! Then they will get knicked for it by the police and they will say - but Mrs Gordon (our teacher) told us all about it so it was her fault. I will be like don't blame me - blame the French they did it first. All I can think of is all these stop signs around the world getting the 'Queen' treatment now. What a hoot.
In San Francisco at the de Young Art Museum they set up a show called Blooms to Art. My boss took use several times to see it on opening night. At the time it was the original museum built probably in the early twentieth century. Many rooms set with paintings, sculptures and furniture. It was amazing. Two years ago I finally got my trip to Paris. We made a large loop out of Paris through Rouen, to hon fleur, to Caan, to Mont St Michel (bucket list for me). Then hell bent for the Loire River chateaux. We chose Chenonceau and Chambord . It was Easter week and Chenonceau was decorated withe the most glorious floral displays. We had two weeks. It was nowhere near enough time.
What a wonderful vlog loved seeing the gardens and flowers thank you so much for taking the time to do this wonderful vlog🌻🙏🏼💐
Such beauty...the flowers and the food! I especially "swooned" over the flower arrangement atop the piano and then cascading down onto the floor....so much talent and creativity.

It was so wonderful to see Marie so happy being inspired by the day out. She seems to work very hard and is a lovely young personality I love to watch develop.
This is really emotional for me to watch - thank you for sharing this. We visit family twice a year, and they live in a place with gardens and galleries and exhibitions. OH...MY...GOSH! This was absolutely fabulous!!!!
Beautiful episode, interesting and calming. The large leaf was an elephant ear - in Zimbabwe the locals sometimes use the leaves as umbrellas in the rainy season ! LaLande should be just as proud of itself - it is an equally exquisite Chateau ! Thanks for the great ‘day trip ‘. X

I am a florist. So this very episode was only for me I guess. Thank you!
What an incredible journey. I am making sous vide tenderloin for supper and when you cut into your beef my pot was smelling lovely and I thought I had "smellivision" , it looked delicious.
I know that someone else commented about the porcupine being the symbol of the order of the porcupine, however this crest is for Louis XII. It was added when he and Anne de Bretagne moved to the castle. He added his crest to the western side of the Renaissance wing and to several rooms inside the chateau.

The magnolias that grow in the southern US can grow to be enormous in size, and their blooms smell like lemony heaven. If you plant elephant ears, give them plenty of sun and tons of water. My grandparents used to have elephant ears planted where the washing machine drained and they were quite happy, and grew as tall as the roof with 3 foot leaves. They will also make a huge flower.

a most beautiful study of form, composition, color, and subtleness. there is so much to take in here. the use of fresh w/ dried, sticks w/ reeds, springer-rye w/ moss...really nice outing. the colors are so pleasing, as are the many textures in the compositions. thanks for sharing these kinds of outings. there are many out here who use your outings as teaching in the real world experience. thank you.
Stephanie. I love the scale of Lalande. It would be impersonal if it looked like this place. And more time would be needed to finish rooms. Lalande is just right for you, Mummy and Daddy, along with your new friends, volunteers and supporters. Your goals seem manageable in a human lifetime.
I live in Dordogne and on visiting a nearby town a guide told us that there are over 1000 chateaux in the region alone ! Only 40 are lived in by the family. I used to turn my head all the time and shout 'chateau, chateau' but had to stop to save my neck and my friends ears! My garden is full of these wild cyclamen, they are gorgeous.
