Need to get headers for this 71 Monte Carlo I’m swapping!! I took a gamble with some s10 Shortys and the pass. Side hits the heater/a.c. box Also have to get a smaller pulley for the power steering pump! It hits the gearbox. I’m using the sliding style motor mounts from umi and have them as far back as they’ll go. This is my 1st a body swap

All trial and error. You are doing the right things. When you are adapting parts that weren’t made to go in a particular vehicle, these little things will come up. You will get it figured out!

Yessir I was trying not to hack the heater box but I end up cutting into it a little bit but I got them to work and they were only 120 bucks I’m trying to figure out exactly where I’m going to mount the ECM I may just leave it all under the hood

Sorry for delay. I don’t have a part number. But they are Speed Engineering brand for an Abody Chevelle. Long tube 1 7/8”. Purchased off eBay.

What motor mount and frame mounts are you using? Happen to have part numbers on the mounts?

They are the stock frame towers. There are two different kind that came on the Chevelle (short and wide & the other style is tall and skinny). One pertains to a big block set up and the other a small block. You have find out which ones you have and order accordingly. I used energy suspension engine mounts for a Chevelle but again you need to know which ones you have on the frame before ordering. Hope that helps.

Noticed that Speed engineering website says they used 1” offset back motor mounts. What setting do you have yours at? I’m running stock location Holley mounts for 69 and was wondering if these headers would work?…

It's a company called remflex sells header gaskets they would've remedied your solution they would've spaced out your headers so it wouldn't hit the boss on the side of the block and they seals up nicely

MRQUETTE Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve heard of them. It was an easy fix. Took me less than 5 minutes and saved me money. They fit great now and I ended up using my BTR gaskets, so it ended up all working out.

You are welcome. I cannot remember off top as there are two sizes for the Chevelle depending on what towers are on the car. I’d have to research what I got and then you would have to know yours when u order.

I almost bought that brand but I didn't like the o2 brings on the top of the collector....so I paid almost 600 for Doug's headers...silly to pay double I guess but I'm kinda particular about how all my wiring is run along the car.

@@MrGriffin23 yeah I was afraid I might end up having to purchase a second set if the o2 sensors being on top of the collector presented a clearance issue....dont get me wrong tho....id have bought the cheap set in a heart beat had the o2 sensors been on the side of the collector.....ive already had to buy two oil pans because the first pan hung to low and I was afraid I'd bottom it out and knock a whole in it.

How low do they hang, hard to see in the video if they are dragging or not? Normally LT headers are always 1-2" too low.

I think is is the part number: Gates brand: 366320 It’s for a 71 Chevelle with a 350 engine. I bought an adapter fitting off eBay to be able to hook up the bump style fitting the the flared hose fitting. Worked great!

Ok cool, I've own a 72 Malibu chevelle for around 10yrs now, I'm the 2nd owner of it. I'm finally about to rip it down to start it all over. I'm going with the same setup as you 6.0/4l80e. Possibly a big turbo. I wanted to do forged internals but just wasn't in the budget at that time. I watch all your videos on the chevelle to make sure I'm going in the right direction. Keep up the great work. You can sell that box caprice in texas for alot of cash when you ready to get away from it. They love those cars here in texas like their granny dinner plate on Sunday watching the game.......

Ricky Montgomery i cant speak for him but mine has a t56 in it and we had to cut the tunnel out and fabricate a new one to go in since the t56 is alot bigger than a th350, ls1tech has alot of info on these swaps!

Ok cool, I've own a 72 Malibu chevelle for around 10yrs now, I'm the 2nd owner of it. I'm finally about to rip it down to start it all over. I'm going with the same setup as you 6.0/4l80e. Possibly a big turbo. I wanted to do forged internals but just wasn't in the budget at that time. I watch all your videos on the chevelle to make sure I'm going in the right direction. Keep up the great work. You can sell that box caprice in texas for alot of cash when you ready to get away from it. They love those cars here in texas like their granny dinner plate on Sunday watching the game.......

@@marcusmumphrey6995 Appreciate it! That sounds like a nice set-up. I’ll be curious to see how u like it. I decided to do a Procharger on the Chevelle. Lol! It’s addicting I swear. But that’s coming later on. There been a pause on the Chevelle videos because it’s in the body shop. So just stay tuned and I’m contact as I’ll be interested in your build as well.

Did you have any issues with the trans tunnel when installing the engine?

Ricky Montgomery i cant speak for him but mine has a t56 in it and we had to cut the tunnel out and fabricate a new one to go in since the t56 is alot bigger than a th350, ls1tech has alot of info on these swaps!

Ricky Montgomery Sorry for late response. I’m running a TH400 with no modifications or issues. My friends has a 71 Cutlass running a 4l60e with no issues as well.

Yes! Holley 302-2 is the pan I used.
