This is a really great tutorial! I've spent many hours on bone orientation problems between maya, unity and unreal and I am very happy that it is this easy in blender. The concept is really important for having managable animation curves, preventing unforeseeable rotations when interpolation between animations and having ik plane solvers work as expected. 10/10 quick, concise and to the point.

Thanks for making this! And speaking specifically to the characters body alignment being easier to rig when the character is in T Pose and aligned in world space. I have worked with designers saying that nobody rigs in T Pose anymore due to erroneous shoulder deformation after rigging. I’ve always found T Pose better for rigging. And have not seen the shoulder deformation being an issue. So I appreciate you mentioning your opinion on that topic.

Excellent tutorial! I started with a pre-posed unrigged model that I had to bring back into a T-pose alignment and this really helped me speed up matching the roll of each limb.

Meaning as long as I am not XYZrotating a bone out of its vert-area, and only fixing the Roll (and the Facing axis), then is that ok? Or should we only Edit bone Roll before Weight painting?
