I love the peregrine falcon but I think (personal opinion) you shouldn’t compare the peregrine falcon with the cheetah because cheetahs can go 80 mph (max speed) which is around 130 km/h and gravity is definitely not on their side while a peregrine falcon can’t go 240 mph or 380 km/h while flying normally but when their diving they can and obviously gravity is on their side. I think now you know what I’m trying to say… aaaaaaaaanyways love the channel keep it up 😄

We had a few pairs of Peregrines nesting up on a few of the taller buildings in downtown Kalamazoo. Pigeons would often alight upon a window ledge just outside one of our office windows. If you were really lucky, you would get to see one of the Peregrines in action. During nesting season was the best time to see them do what they do. They are truly fascinating to watch, especially when the pigeon would leap into the air, from the ledge, in a last ditch attempt to avoid being eaten. Watching those Peregrines snatch a pigeon on the wing or "punch it", from out of nowhere, then circle back and grab the dead pigeon, before it hit the ground, gave me a new appreciation for these birds.

We had a nesting pair in the yard. The twins moved out of the nest and lived in the tree , days before flying. On flight day the mom brought an injured dove and set it under a tree about 125 feet away, where it hopped arround. Both parents came near the twins tree to cajole and insult them until one after another they flew to brunch. I thought it was too much at once, because of how other birds teach flying. But it worked. Well. They weren't great at hunting for the first few days, and one got embarrased when he shot too hard at a target on a fence top. He ended upside-down, looking at me through the fence. They both survived and grew stong.

My yard was first against the wild, so mice must have been there, an occasional rattlesnake, and kingsnakes. The falcons probably thought it was a grocery.

Mudskipper laughing in the corner:
That falcon really used high jump kick..
Story: Admitted delivery at an old and ancient warehouse area in Chicago, it was raining, dark and dirty from the sun being blocked out by the menacing clouds. As I looked out the warehouse doors, I was looking at the telephone lines crowded and weighed heavily down with hundreds of pigeons all huddling together miserable in the freezing rain. I ask myself, “what could be worse?” As I spoke I could see my breath in the cold wet air. Just then, I caught a glimpse of a arrow falling at great speed from the air as if it had been propelled by an English long bowman of old. Feathers exploded everywhere, and a bird drop to the ground. The arrow that hit it was a falcon it took back to the air but not flying at high at all just enough to follow its prey to the ground. The other Pigeons rustling their feathers closed in where their friend had been, returning to their miserable state.

Your point makes sense, but thats the birds way of mobility. Sailfish are also considered to be faster than Cheetahs. Though the sailfish has water behind it that it can push its self off of constantly, so should that make it disown that title too? A cheetah is the fastest land animal though, which gives it number #1 on land but if we throw all the different types of animals together from different sectors of the biosphere, technically we have to give it to the Peregrine Falcon for fastest animal. 👍
