Pere Marquette 1225 Returns to Cadillac
For this video, I felt the sound of the train was sufficient enough in telling the story from 2015's return trip to Cadillac. June 6 was the first time the locomotive had been this far north, making it a trip worth chasing. To start the video off, a few of the Steam Railroading Institute's volunteers shared their story with me about what it's like to work on the big Berkshire.

From an old Pere Marquette in Flint, Michigan family, I thank you for the memories.
Nice to see a main line locomotive without a diesel backup, thanks for posting DIB.

Thanks for taking and sharing this great High-Definition Video without the narration. Just the sounds of the steam locomotive are music enough to all of our ears.

This a classic, one of the best steam videos I've ever seen.
I grew up with the 1225. At 5 years old my father hoisted me into the cab, when the was stored at MSU and before the fence went up.
Pere Marquette 1225, a 2-8-4 “Berkshire” built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1941 that is famous for appearing in the 2004 Christmas movie Polar Express.

The best video I've seen. perfectly done. I'm going to watch it again.
Good scenes; good sounds!
This is so cool defiantly worth the work making it run.
I don't always foam, but when I do, it's because 1225 is running
That was my first steam chase and still remains my best. What a great day. Also the first time I met you. Good to finally see this footage.
Oh how I’d give up everything just to work with/on the Pere Marquette
This is so Awesome
Once again the videography and editing is second to none!!! Very nice thanks a lot!
Hello from Kansas 🇺🇸
beautiful sound.
Some very good steam action. I like the different views.
Great Job!! Very Interesting and Very Well Done!!!
Awesome Video! Hopefully was well worth a trip!
Another great video!
I Am Never Pressing The KZread Video Dislike Button Forever
I like the views of having a camera mounted on front of the Steamer, it give you a great view and sounds are great from it too. Next time I would a second camera facing the rear seeing the action of all those parts moving and dancing down the rails. When you have the sounds of music from this engine you do not need anything else.
awesome video. very cool.
Wow! That's so fast!

@ResetVlogz It was pure happenstance and coincidence that the Pere Marquette 1225 was the easiest to pull out of the dead line to be delivered to Michigan State University. That’s where Chris Van Allsburg, the guy who wrote The Polar Express, found it. He wrote the book based off of his experiences climbing on the engine as a kid. Pere Marquette 1225. Christmas Day 12/25. One of the best coincidences ever

Ok, curious. I love the 1225 and its sound, but every time its whistle blows the shrill nature causes the mics used to over-correct and it sounds... off. Anyone know of properly balanced whistle sounds videos or files?
Great video. Is that a turkey at 9:41?
Nice camera placement on the locomotive. I agree. a narration of this video would have taken away from it.

Which chime whistle does Pere Marquette 1225 have today?
@engineer6325
7 жыл бұрын
I believe it is a Nathan 6 chime steptop. I say it this way, because it IS a Nathan 6 chime, but it sounds like no other Nathan 6 chime out there. I don't know if this is because it has been modified or it's some variant, but it is certainly "unique" with it's sound.
