He looks, sounds, and gives off the same vibe as Luke, but the script ruined his dialogue and actions. So to me (this is 10000% not his fault) he's too good at being like Luke that his strange/bad actions and dialogue, make watching him a bit jarring. He was too much like Luke that when he acted stupid it was like Luke had actually said that. Like when Percy (he did a pretty good job as an actor, just not as an actor for Percy: again that's more of a script issue) says/does something out of character for his book counterpart you don't mentally connect them cause he doesn't feel like Percy TL:DR He did too good a job performance that his horribly wrong script further embarrassed and tainted his character, because he still felt like Luke.

Agreed but i still think the movie itself is decently below average, a 3.8/10 for me

Quite frankly Jake Abel as Luke was the only correct casting choice they made (honestly it was about the only right choice they made with the entire movie). He even matched Luke's age in the book pretty well, since Luke was older.

Even when it’s the worst movie, that line was iconic

The best line from this movies is “I had crawl my way through Tartarus then Cleveland.” like had he said that last part implied that Cleveland was just as bad to get through is just hilarious.

Even though the movies were really bad, Jake Abel as Luke Castellan had some pretty funny lines. Including this one and like you said, “I had to crawl through the depths of Tartarus itself. Then Cleveland.” I also always thought this scene was SO weird. Like Jake Abel just comes out and randomly makes a comment about Logan Lerman being on the roof….

This moment was tense and thrilling but then they just broke the anticipation with this line

Luke is like: “can you fucking NOT”

It’s so sad that the actors were actually pretty good in their roles, but the writers just messed up the script so bad

I’d go as far as to say this 14 second clip almost saved the movie. Almost.

This is the best line in both movies combined.

The fact that at this exact time in the books, Percy and Luke are still like 12 and 15 respectively, so this is actual dialouge that would yave happened between them. God I wish these movies didnt suck.

It's been a while since I read the Percy Jackson series but Luke would've absolutely said this. The movie sucked but at least Luke's sass made it in.

I feel like these guys would’ve been perfect as older versions of Percy and Luke.

the first movie was the reason i started reading the books because i loved the movie so much and when i first started reading the book i was annoyed because it wasnt like the movie. but i continued reading and i loved the whole series. the first movie really felt like percy jackson, it wasn't book accurate but it had the vibe, you know? i had such high hopes for the new disney+ series but it's kinda disappointing too. makes me kinda miss the movies lol. i miss logan lerman as percy too he was perfect. i mean i watched the movie so he really shaped how i imagined percy when i started reading.
